  • Paulina Porikzova posted a makeup-free selfie to share big feelings on her memoir’s launch day.

  • After giving various press interviews to promote the book, she’s displeased with how some of them portrayed her marriage to Ric Ocasek.

  • “If you want to know the complexities of a marriage, read my book,” she wrote.

After months of anticipation, Paulina Porizkova’s book, No Filter, released to the public on November 15. And in staying true to herself and the title, she posted a filter-free, makeup-free selfie to share the mixed feelings she was overwhelmed by on such an important day.

“Here I am, barefaced and unfiltered on publication day,” the 57-year-old wrote. “When I wrote my book, it was with the intention to put down on paper what shaped me to become the person I have become. I wasn’t thinking about the result: that parts will be taken out of context and labeled for clickbait.”

The former supermodel was referring to the press interviews she gave ahead of the book’s release, particularly those that referenced her tumultuous relationship with late ex-husband The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. She criticized them for calling Ocasek “toxic,” a word she claimed not to use to describe him. (For context, she recently told Maria Shriver at a Radically Reframing Aging Summit that she didn’t feel seen by him later in their marriage, and when he died shortly after their divorce, she learned he excluded her from his will.)

In her post, Porizkova felt compelled to clarify a few things. “My husband gave me the love I needed for a long time. And in return, he had expectations which I gladly fulfilled. Was it a healthy love? Maybe not, but it was the love I needed and wanted at the time,” she explained. “It was what I chose. Nobody has ever loved me like he did. And no one ever will. Now I chose to look back at this love with gratitude. It was the only time in my life I felt safe. Today, I don’t need this safety. I’ve learned I can stand on my own.”

She concluded: “If you want to know the complexities of a marriage, read my book.”

Fans and followers admired her for standing up for herself. “I have so much admiration for your vulnerability and generosity of self,” one person commented. “I relate so much to this, including finding love and a long marriage that started to change once I began to figure out who I really was,” another added. “Sending love and support❤️,” someone else wrote.

Ahead of the book’s release, Porizkova announced that she’s embarking on a small book tour to share her story. Tickets and copies of the memoir are available now.
