  • Jennifer Aniston, 54, just revealed her thoughts on hair turning gray.

  • In classic Aniston style, she kept it straight to the point: “You do you.”

  • Aniston encouraged people to be more concerned with the overall health of their hair as they age and to consider the color of their strands as a creative outlet.

If there’s anyone who seems to just keep getting better with age, it’s Jennifer Aniston. The now-54-year-old actress opened up about her top tips for maintaining youthful, glowing skin in the past and is now revealing how she feels about gray hair.

The Morning Show actress has one thing to say to women who choose to go gray: “You do you!” she said at the time in an interview with Glamour. Aniston shared her thoughts on going gray and what’s really important when it comes to aging.

The former Friends star encourages women to do whatever makes them feel good when it comes to their hair. “If you want to go gray, go for it! If you want to keep coloring your hair, that’s great too. I think everyone should feel confident in whatever choices they make, including embracing natural color or texture,” Aniston said. “Hair is a creative way to express yourself, and I love that your mood and energy can change with the change of a hairstyle, cut, or color. Embrace what is going to make you happy.”

What’s more important to Aniston than the color of her hair as she gets older is her overall health. “Two things are inevitable. The first, aging. The second, there’s always going to be critics,” Aniston said. “For me, it’s more of the question of how do I take the best care of myself, physically and mentally? We can still thrive when we’re older, and that’s thanks to all the advancements in health, nutrition, technology, and science.”

She uses products she believes in. “The secret is using the right products that not only deliver on performance but are also formulated with the best ingredients,” she told Glamour. “I try to keep it simple and limit the number of products I use.”

The actress launched her own hair care line LolaVie in late 2021, which she spent five years developing. Before the launch, she previously touted go-to hair products like Living Proof No Frizz Shampoo and Canalé Soften Conditioner along with Living Proof Restore Repair Mask. Additionally, Aniston spoke in the past about the importance of using a protectant to maintain healthy hair.

“The biggest thing I’ve learned over the years from my stylists is to protect! We put our hair through so much damage–dyeing your hair, straighteners, curling iron, everything over time has an effect,” she previously said. “That’s why it’s essential to use products that protect every step of the way.”

This isn’t the first time Aniston has opened up about aging gracefully. When she turned 50, the actress admitted she felt “doom” around the number, but she was confident she was “entering the most creatively fulfilling periods of my life.” She told InStyle, “I don’t know what it is because I don’t feel any different. Things aren’t shutting down in any way. I feel physically incredible. So it’s weird that it’s all of a sudden getting telegraphed in a way that’s like, ‘You look amazing for your age.’ I think we need to establish some etiquette around that dialogue and verbiage.”

After her 52nd birthday in 2021, Aniston again shared her perspective on aging gracefully. “I’m at an age where I’m more interested than ever in my health, and my life is thriving, but according to society, this is where I should be going out to pasture. No, no, no,” she said. “Youth is wasted on the young, I get it. But I want to keep putting information in my head that’s going to inspire me.”
