As we move towards the festive season, it's time for summer camp–like lodges to undergo their magical winter transformations. And that's exactly what's happening at sister-owned Cedar Lakes Estate.

Located about 75 miles from New York City in Port Jervis, New York, the 500-acre property was built in the 1940s as a summer camp, but these days, it's a year-round destination for weddings, retreats, and leisure stays. Starting on Nov. 22, it'll become an all-inclusive winter resort, welcoming guests for cozy weekend getaways.

Included in the rate are most outdoor winter activities, including snowshoeing, sledding, curling, and ice skating — and there are miles of hiking trails if there's no snow — as well as indoor activities like game nights. You can also add on special activities like private dinners in faux igloos, ice fishing, and maple sugaring. And whether you're indoors or outdoors, you'll likely be able to find a roaring fire to keep you warm, paired with a steaming mug of hot chocolate.

Farm-to-table meals (sans alcoholic beverages) are also included in the rate: start your day with a hearty country breakfast, take a picnic lunch out onto the trails, and wrap up with a multi-course dinner. If you're staying over a weekend, guests are welcome to join the Saturday Supper Series, a weekly event with communal dining and music. And, in fact, non-guests can also book seats at a table if you'd like to join for just one evening.

During the winter season, stays must be a minimum of two nights, or three nights during holidays, with the resort open for bookings from Thursdays to Sundays.

Rates start at $665 per night; book your trip at cedarlakesestate.com.
