50-Year-Old Rider Takes On Whistler's World-Famous A-Line

There is a pervasive myth in riding that riding big jumps is only for young guns. As the line of thought goes, once riders are north of 35 they need to focus on cross country only.

You will not be surprised to hear that this is hogwash. At the forefront of proving the agists wrong is Instagram personality and YouTube creator MTB Alan. Watch the 50-year-old ride A-Line when visiting Whistler for the first time below.

Alan is a YouTuber from Southern California who has built up a following for his short and long-form videos. As you can see in the video, he shreds. The jumps on A-line, intuitive as they are, are quite sizeable.

As far as creators go, Alan is one of the more popular. Though he has collaborated with many of his popular to make good MTB content, he shines on his own. See an example of his solo work below.

Alan is part of a new generation of names in the bike industry known for making funny short-form content on instagram. These creators focus on the humor and ridiculousness of the sport rather than going the biggest, and they are rewarded for it with their popularity.

Alan has double the following on instagram of the rider who got 4th in the men’s overall in the Enduro World Cup in 2023. Relatable personalities have found a place in the bike industry, and Alan is one of the people to ride that wave.

Like most creators, eventually, Alan found himself visiting Whistler. It is seen as the best bike park in the world, and for good reason. The park has become the cultural center of the bike world due to the amazing trails, exciting village, and proximity to other riding. Riders come from far and wide to experience what the park has to offer.
