Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is slated to star in Boneyard, a forthcoming indie crime-thriller from producer Colin Bates, alongside Mel Gibson.

The film, which has already begun production in Las Vegas, also stars Nora Zehetner (The Right Stuff) and Brian Van Holt, who previously fronted Jo vs. Caroline with Kate McKinnon.

Asif Akbar is directing Boneyard based on a script written by Hank Byrd, Vincent E. McDaniel, Koji Steven Sakai and Akbar. Bates, who produced Halle Berry's Kidnap and the Arnold Schwarzenegger zombie film, Maggie, is producing Boneyard in conjunction with Vincent McDaniel.

Boneyard, which is inspired by real events, follows an FBI special agent, depicted by Gibson, on a hunt for a serial killer nicknamed The Bone Collector, with the Albuquerque Police Department. As the search progresses, the department's chief and a fellow officer raise concerns that the killer might actually be one of their own.

Boneyard is only the latest project in Jackson's acting repertoire. The rapper-turned-actor has appeared in Starz's crime series Power, as well as its several spinoffs, and Black Mafia Family, which is now entering its third season. Additionally, Jackson starred in the recently released The BFM docuseries.

A release date has not yet been revealed for Boneyard. Stay tuned for more information.
