5 Women's Health Editors Put Versed's TikTok-Famous Brand To The Test

Clean, effective, and affordable: The holy trinity of a good skincare brand, and a hard one to find at that. For that reason, it's no surprise that even though Versed Skincare was founded in Los Angeles only four years ago, the brand quickly became one of the most highly-reviewed and trendy in beauty communities on TikTok and Instagram. You likely recognize their iconic Instant Resurfacing Mask and Moisturizing Gel Cream from your fave influencers' skincare routines.

Now, your beloved Women's Health editors wanted to see what all the hype was about, so five of us got together to test out their bestselling products to give our totally honest reviews. All of us have a diverse and distinct range of skin types, goals, concerns, and shades, so the products were really put to the test across the spectrum.

Ultimately, though, Versed aims to work for all skin types and budgets (every product is under $25). Given the brand's massive amount of success on social media, they're all about listening to their online communities. "Quite simply, every single product launched gets approved by the community," says Versed's Vice President of Marketing, Lindsey Kracum. "We are constantly engaging with our community across multiple platforms and touch-points to ensure we’re developing products that suit their wants and needs."

But, the products aren't just clean formulas wrapped in pretty packaging (though they are that, in addition to much more). In fact, Kracum says that the very brand name "Versed" comes from the fact that they're actually, simply just well-versed in skincare. "Dermatologist approval carries a lot of weight when it comes to our community's skincare decisions," she says. "Versed has our own Dermatologist Advisory Board, where dermatologists test our formulas and provide feedback during the innovation process."

Doctor’s Visit Instant Resurfacing Mask

Packed with AHAs, BHAs, enzymes, and vitamin C, this mask is meant to exfoliate the skin while infusing it with brightening ingredients. But, it's meant to do all of that without drying the skin out.

Editor Review: "I have dry skin but I also suffer from hyperpigmentation, so I get nervous about trying out products that promise a lot of heavy exfoliation. First off, the jelly-like consistency felt so cooling and soothing on my skin. And, I love that I only had to keep it on for a few minutes, so I can easily do this in the morning before putting on makeup. It left my skin feeling brighter and super hydrated. Smooth Landing Advanced Retinoid Eye Balm

If you've spent any amount of time trying to curate your own skincare routine, you know all about the benefits of retinol. Meant to increase skin cell production, in this eye cream, it's supposed to smooth out fine lines and increase collagen production. While the ingredient can be drying, this formula is also infused with hydrating and nourishing vitamin E.

Editor Review: "Being Indian, my dark circles are genetic, and it's near impossible to find a product that can hydrate my dry skin while also brightening that sensitive under-eye area. Till now, the only thing that's ever worked was the Kiehl's Avocado Eye Cream. While I've kept that as my day eye cream, this is now my holy grail nighttime eye cream. Dew Point Moisturizer Gel-Cream

One of the most popular products from the brand, Versed's Dew Point Moisturizer has an ultra lightweight gel-cream formula that can be attributed to the aloe leaf juice in the formula. And ICYMI, aloe is an antibacterial ingredient that can be great for treating acne, but it's also known to give skin a serious glow.

Cleansing balms (and cleansers in general) are hard to master. Clean formulas tend to not get all your waterproof makeup off, and they can leave behind a greasy residue. Editor Review: "I absolutely loved how silky soft this texture felt. It was actually like a cross between butter and silk. It didn't really get my waterproof makeup off, though. I think this is great for low-makeup days or times I'm not wearing waterproof mascara. It didn't leave any gross film on my skin, which is a worry of mine with clean formulas. One of the pricier items from Versed, this is another one that TikTok beauty gurus love to rave about. The bronze glow drops come in two shades: bronzed and golden. Both feature a water-like consistency in a handy dropper formula, infused with hyaluronic acid and antioxidants.

Editor Review: "Since I have a naturally darker skin tone, I get hesitant about the bronzing products that get TikTok-famous, since most of them just end up being my actual skin tone. But, I actually tried both shades (even the one that was technically lighter than my skin tone), and they both looked amazing. I used way too much product at first, because a little seriously goes a long way (the instructions said to use one to two drops, and I ignored them—whoops). It added the most stunning glow to my face. It's my new favorite product to add to my cheekbones or even whole face when I really want some glow. Buff It Out AHA Exfoliating Body Scrub

Made with both chemical and physical exfoliants, Versed's body scrub has dozens of five-star reviews online from people who swear by it for making their shower feel like a spa, making their legs feel super smooth. It aims to smooth out strawberry legs, too.

Editor Review: "I really swear I wanted to like this, but nothing seems to be a match for my ultra-stubborn coarse South Asian hair and strawberry legs. That said, I think this is great for anyone who has more fine hair on their body. Versed's answer to that is this body mist infused with antibacterial witch hazel, acne-fighting salicylic acid, and clarifying tea tree oil.

Editor Review: "Wow, ok. I think I may have just FINALLY found the solution to the pesky bumps I get on my bikini line. I do occasionally get bumps on my butt, and this definitely helped smooth those out, but the more outstanding benefit was the way in which this soothed my razor burn I get around my bikini line. I have pretty coarse hair, and this totally soothed the pain and discomfort I get after shaving there. I apply it right after shaving, every time I get out of the shower, and before bed. I know you may be thinking, "Who needs another basic sunscreen?" but, it's honestly a hard product to master. Some can leave a greasy residue on the skin, and others often leave behind a white cast on darker skin tones. Versed promises that their mineral, reef-safe formula won't leave a cast, and that it'll work for every skin tone and shade. It's supposedly the Goldilocks of SPFs—not too matte, but not too glowy, either.

Editor Review: "This sunscreen doesn't leave a white cast at all. It blends so smoothy into my skin, and the fragrance is super light. It doesn't feel like I'm caking something on, and it doesn't make me look oily. I'm always skeptical about buying mineral sunscreens because so many brands swear there's no white cast when there is but this one delivers on that. The Shortcut Overnight Facial

Anyone with a full-time job, trying to have a social life while fitting in workouts and cooking, all while doing laundry in between? Same, which is why I'll beam at any product that promises a shortcut. Versed's aptly-named overnight facial has lactic and glycolic acid in it, two chemical exfoliants that are meant to brighten the skin, so you should wake up with a brighter, more radiant complexion.

Editor Review: "I love the ingredients in this formula, and it felt really nice and lightweight. While it definitely did make me wake up with bright skin, it also dried me out a bit, too. I feel like this would be perfect for someone with combo or oily skin who wants an overnight glow-up. I tried applying an oil on top of this, but that made the product pill a bit. Instant Gratification At-Home Dermaplaning Tool

Face razors are all the rage here at Women's Health, and our derms love dermaplaning tools for all the skincare benefits they offer, too. Editor Review: "I'm obsessed with dermaplaning, but a lot of the at-home tools can be a bit flimsy and have cheap blades that feel really rough on the skin—I've definitely had close calls with cutting myself on cheaper drugstore options before. I love how thick this handle is and how long the blade on this is. I get more surface area in one swipe, and the handle allows a lot of control. To be super honest, the first time I used this, the razor head I was using actually broke off the handle, but that's why I like that the heads are super easily replaceable. One of their newest releases, Versed's body lotion with SPF is ultra affordable at $20 for a big six oz. bottle. Designed to be ultra hydrating yet non-greasy, the formula contains nourishing cupuaçu butter and grapeseed oil to make sure your skin won't dry out while you lay in the sun. Even then, they claim to have a non-greasy formula—a seriously hard thing to achieve in an SPF.

Editor Review: "The first time I used this, I felt worried because it had that sticky sunblock feel that I’m not a fan of. But once it’s rubbed on, it feels weightless and a bit smoother. If you touch your skin, you can sort of tell where you’ve applied it, which makes me feel like it’s doing it’s job and allows me to easily see where I should apply (or reapply) more SPF." —
