Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney’s lavish wedding was a thoughtfully-personalized celebration of their love. On October 19, the Oscar-winning actress married her art gallerist fiancé in an intimate New England ceremony. The exclusive guest list of 150 loved ones included A-listers like Amy Schumer, Kris Jenner, Emma Stone, Elizabeth Olsen and Adele. While the wedding was held in Newport, Rhode Island, Lawrence’s Kentucky roots were a major part of the celebration. The wedding menu was extensive, with everything from sweet potato flat cakes to salt cod beignets on it. But the couple also served Kentucky-style barbecue for their guests as a nod to the star’s home state. In addition to the Southern-style dishes, the couple also offered guests a special signature cocktail: the Old Fashioned—a tried-and-true Kentucky favorite.
Late Night Food Trucks
As a self-proclaimed junk food lover, it’s no surprise Lawrence’s wedding involved a collection of scrumptious late night snacks. While there haven’t been any reports of pizza (one of the star’s favorite foods) at the reception, there were burgers. Around 11 p.m., a food truck from Boston’s Baddest Burger and Sandwich Company parked in front of the venue, according to People. The food truck served traditional burgers, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers and hot dogs, according to the founder of Boston’s Baddest Burgers (via the Boston Globe).
A Traditional Clambake
The couple leaned into New England tradition by hosting a clambake for their rehearsal dinner. They were joined by 140 loved ones for the welcome party on Rose Island, an intimate destination off the coast of Newport that’s only accessible by boat. Guests like Kris Jenner, Adele and Nicole Richie were spotted arriving to the lavish soirée. According to photos captured by the Daily Mail, a fireworks display lit up the sky in celebration of the wedding weekend.
Sustainable Catering Company
When Lawrence released her wedding registry earlier this year, she also announced an important partnership with an eco-friendly org. “I am also partnering with Amazon Conservation, which unites science, innovation, and community to protect the Amazon rainforest, which greatly needs our help right now,” she said in a statement to CNN.
In keeping with the campaign, Lawrence and Maroney hired a sustainable catering company for the wedding weekend. A source told MSN that the caterer was Heirloom Fires, a company that specializes in organic foods specifically chosen to help preserve the east coast’s ecosystem.
The Storied Venue
The couple said “I do” at Belcourt of Newport, a historic coastal mansion known for its colorful history. The sprawling estate, once known for hosting extravagant parties, was inspired by Louis XIII’s hunting lodge at Versailles and is currently owned by Alex and Ani co-founder Carolyn Rafaelian.
Despite the grandeur of the Gilded Age Mansion, the newlyweds personalized their venue by giving it an intimate makeover. The Daily Mail reported that guests were seated at long, family-style tables in a grand dining room, which was accented with dim lighting and greenery. Fire pits were arranged outside the castle, where the extravagant dinner selections were prepared. The outlet also reported that the couple broke with tradition by visiting the venue together, just hours before their sunset ceremony to oversee the final design touches.
