5 Things You May Have Missed at the People’s Choice Awards

As the People’s Choice Awards went down Sunday night, Victoria Beckham gave us what we “really, really want” as she threw up her signature Spice Girls peace sign while accepting the Fashion Icon award, and Melissa McCarthy proved why she is the People’s Icon as she gave a sweet tribute to fans.

But not every moment was caught on cameras at the PCAs. We were in the room at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., and caught quite a few moments that you may have missed during the show.

For starters, the awards show took place not far from the deadly Woolsey Fires that have ravaged parts of Malibu, so the red carpet was tented and the area was sealed tight. There were quite a few celebrities who attended the event, like the Kardashians, despite being personally affected by the fires. Given that, many used the opportunity to pay tribute to (and hope to raise donations for) the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Red Cross throughout the night.

Take a peek at five other things you may not have seen during the show:

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton couldn’t stop packing on the PDA:

Stefani and Shelton cozied up at their table throughout the show, but when The Voice was announced as the winner of the Competition Show of 2018 award, they brought their PDA front and center. Host Carson Daly and Shelton hopped up from their table to accept the award, then they called Stefani up to the stage.

“All-time favorite coach, right there, Gwen Stefani. I love her,” the country music star said, as he pointed to her at the table. Daly added, “You wanna come up? Come up and say a few words. Come on up!” Stefani rushed up in her Balmain mini dress, and Shelton wrapped her in his arms and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Oh my God, I’m so excited to be with Blake Shelton!” Stefani said with a big smile. As they walked off, Stefani grabbed Shelton’s arm. They continued to hold hands all the way backstage, even after cameras stopped rolling.

The Kardashian-Jenner crew made it a girls' night:

Kylie Jenner was the only sister missing as Khloé Kardashian, Kim Kardashian West, Kourtney Kardashian, and Kendall Jenner all turned the People’s Choice Awards into a girls’ night out with their mom, Kris Jenner. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars arrived fashionably late, with Kris rocking shades — which she kept on — as they sat at their table.

Throughout the evening, the fivesome hopped up during commercial breaks to snap photos with each other, blowing air kisses and saying hello to friends, like Carson Daly, who approached their table, and bobbing their heads and snapping cell phone videos during Rita Ora’s performance. Khloé even stood up and shook her hips as Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” played during a commercial break.

Melissa McCarthy’s sweet off-the-cuff moments:

The actress, who took home the Icon Award, was sitting at a table with her husband, Ben Falcone, and the two turned the event into a date night, cuddling up at the table they shared with Nicki Minaj and Tyga.

As McCartney headed onstage to accept her People’s Icon Award, she gave a sweet tribute to fans and made the audience giggle when she kept bumping into the mic. “This is a two-head mic guys … I came in really hard on that one,” she said with a laugh after it happened for a second time.

Nicki Minaj’s custom Versace dress wasn’t the easiest to walk in:

The “Dip” rapper proved that not all statement-making fashion moments are easy to pull off, but so worth it as she walked up the stairs in her form fitting dress to accept the Female Artist of 2018 and Album of 2018 awards during the night. The dress didn’t allow for much movement, so she had to walk carefully — someone helped her walk up to the stage and back down both time. Otherwise she kept her moving around the room to a minimum, but she did make a point to walk over to Carson Daly and give him a huge hug after she won her second award.
