The Coachella Valley is famously a desert oasis for tourists, but residents have the right to enjoy their own slice of paradise.

From pool parties to a craft beer festival, many local hotels are hosting public — or at least open to those with a day pass — events this summer, so we've compiled a list of some of the standouts.

Here are five events to enjoy at local hotels this summer so you can pretend you're on vacation.

Artists in Residency

Since 2014, The Ace Hotel has featured the quarterly AIR (Artist In Residence) Program at its properties and partner with different institutions, collectives and organizations to co-curate its presentations at each property. The Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs is currently hosting artist Algorythm.Code (Cody Perkins), whose work will be exhibited 8-10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3.

But Perkins isn't the only artist that will be in residence at the Ace Palm Springs this year. The hotel will also host Qwenga (in-residence during October and will be showcasing his work from November through January), Jordan Slaffey (in-residence during January and will be showcasing her work from February through April) and Shauna Davis (in-residence during April and will be showcasing her work from May through July).

Perkins spent July in his room at the hotel recording an EP while examining the similarities between he and his father's near-death experiences.

On Aug. 3, Cody will perform his interdisciplinary performance piece "In Future Daze."
