This 5-Ingredient Caprese Heart Salad Is the Perfect Valentine's Day Appetizer

In my humble opinion, Valentine's Day is a little overblown. While I'm a sucker for heart-shaped cookies or any excuse to have a date night with my husband, it's easy to put too much pressure on ourselves to have a ~*perfect~* romantic outing. There's absolutely nothing wrong with laying low and showing your Valentine (or galentines!) some love with a delicious meal at home.

If, like me, you're planning a cozy night in for Valentine's Day, the Heart Caprese Salad The BakerMama recently shared on her Instagram is the perfect easy appetizer. Seriously, how cute is it?

Essentially you just layer tomato slices in a heart shape, cut some fresh mozzarella into hearts with a cookie cutter, then garnish with basil, a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze. For the full recipe and step-by-step instructions, head to The BakerMama's blog post. (And if you want to learn how to make seriously striking grazing boards, pick up her Beautiful Boards book from Amazon!)

We love how versatile this Heart Caprese Salad is for V-Day. For a party-perfect galentine's spread, you could serve the salad with toasted baguette slices, crudites and a cheese board. Or, for an easy date night, you could serve it as an appetizer before whipping up one of these easy (but still impressive) Valentine's Day dinners.
