5 Healthy Items Trader Joe's Crew Members Love

The latest episode of the Trader Joe’s Podcast debuted today, and we couldn’t wait to hear the latest from one of our favorite grocers. While we loved learning about Trader Joe’s University—yes, it’s real!—we were intrigued to discover several of the crew members’ absolute favorite TJ’s products. Here are their top healthy picks you just might want to add to your next grocery list:

Green Dragon Hot Sauce

Made with tomatillos, garlic, cilantro, spinach, and habanero peppers, this flavorful condiment is a crowd-favorite of TJ’s shoppers and crew members alike. One crew member says they can’t live without Green Dragon Hot Sauce and has a pantry full of it. This would make the perfect addition to our Best Taco Recipes or drizzled on top of our Spicy Shrimp Noodles.

Sweet Apple Chicken Sausages

One of the Trader Joe’s crew members raved about this product for good reason. These sweet and savory chicken sausages contain less than half the saturated fat found in regular sausage links, but have just as much protein! TJ’s chicken sausage works wonders in our Healthy Chicken Cassoulet and would be the perfect substitute in our Sausage, Spinach, and Apple Breakfast Sandwiches.

Peanut Butter Pretzels

OK, who doesn’t love these? TJ’s peanut butter pretzels are a favorite of Dave, a 51-year veteran of Trader Joe’s, and their longest-working crew member to date. And little did we know, there’s also a variety that doesn’t come salted for those watching their sodium intake!

Can’t get enough of Trader Joe’s?

Cashew Fiesta Dip

One crew member was raving about this plant-based cheese dip, saying it’s her new daily staple for adding extra flavor to veggies. We were pretty impressed with this dip ourselves, as it has a much better nutrition profile than the average queso recipe. Made with cashews, veggies, and a kick from jalepeños, this fiesta dip is only 30 calories per serving and doesn’t contain any saturated fat.

Soy Chorizo

Another crew member revealed even though they aren’t vegetarian or vegan, they adore this soy chorizo—and could easily be fooled by it! While this sausage alternative is pretty high in sodium, it’s a great meat-free source of protein, Vitamin A, and fiber. This product would work swimmingly in our “Huevos” Soy-Cheros, and would make an excellent vegan substitute in our Sweet Potato Chili Mac. Just maybe be wary when salting the rest of your dish!
