5 Crazy-Romantic Fall Beach Getaways

Fall might be the beach's most romantic season, and while any beach on a blustery day provides the algebra for love, I'm smitten with these love-laced coastal getaways that are perfect for fall. Book now and thank me later, lovebirds!

What's to love: Couples only! Hotel Wailea, the luxury, suites-only hotel, has emerged from a $15-million redesign with 72 oversized one-bedroom suites, a new resort pool with residential style cabanas and an apothecary style pool bar. No kids! I'm already feeling the romance, but check this out: how about the resort's Suite Getaway package, which includes a four-hour beach excursion in this reproduction 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster convertible? Marry me, Wailea! Read more, here.

What's to love: Brewery Gulch Inn's Ultimate Romantic Escape package, which is actually inspired by the magic that this spectacular destination worked on owners Guy and Sarah, who fell in love with each other, as well as Mendocino. The two-night package includes private chef services, wine tasting, beach picnic and in-room couples massage. Read more, here.

Destination: Cape Cod, Massachusetts

What's to love: Once the summer is over, Cape Cod's outer beaches empty out and regain their breathtaking solitude and beauty. In the charming town of Chatham, Wequassett Resort and Golf Club has the perfect way to maximize the fall romance: private picnics on an exclusive beach in the Cape Cod National Seashore that's accessible only by boat. Wequassett stays open through Thanksgiving, so there's time to plan that perfect New England escape. Read more, here.

Destination: Carmel-by-the-Sea, California

What's to love: Vintage hotness coming our way starting November 1, when Carmel-by-the-Sea's iconic Cypress Inn, a 1929 landmark property co-owned by legendary Hollywood actress Doris Day, rolls out its Pillow Talk package. Using the 1959 film with Ms. Day and the fabulous Rock Hudson as its inspiration, the getaway includes luxe lodgings, a DIY beach bonfire kit, artisan chocolates, and craft cocktail session. The package is offered through December 31, 2015; to reserve, call 831-624-3871.

What's to love: Over-the-top 007-style romance at the highest end at the legendary Brazilian Court Hotel. The Brazilian Bond package, which runs now through December 31 (and starts at, hold your breath, $23,300 for two nights), includes the following bucket-list escapades: private helicopter tour of Palm Beach, private yacht sunset cruise, Tom Ford cufflinks for him, Louboutin iconic Pigalle heels for her, Aston Martin DB9 rental for entire weekend, welcome bottles of Macallan Whiskey and Bollinger Champagne, styling at Frederic Fekkai, a seven-course chef's table meal with whiskey tasting at Cafe Boulud, and two night in Brazilian Court's Hepburn Suite. You only live once, right?

Tracey Minkin is in Vancouver, British Columbia, this weekend, talking with travel writers and enjoying the beautiful (and romantic) Rosewood Hotel Georgia. She'll be blogging about that soon, and heading to Cuba after that. Follow her adventures on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. And leave suggestions in comments about where you'd like to see Coastal Living go next!
