5 cozy cold-weather TikTok recipes

When it’s cold outside, it’s time to warm things up in the kitchen with some cozy and comforting dishes. Plus, as life gets hectic during the holidays, there’s nothing better than enjoying a toasty home-cooked recipe. From sweet glazed potatoes to hearty, creamy soup, here are five cold-weather recipes from TikTok that are so tasty you’ll want to make them all year round.

Taking a long flight home for the holidays? Here are some hacks to make your journey bearable.

1. Homemade buttermilk biscuits

When it comes to biscuits, the bigger, the better. Start by mixing all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, butter, buttermilk and honey to make the dough. Next, pour the dough onto a floured surface and knead. Roll out the dough, and then divide it into circles using a cookie cutter. Before placing them in the oven, brush the biscuits with heavy whipped cream for a golden crispy outside and a fluffy inside.

2. Air-fried avocado fries

This recipe is so good, it’s “avo (out of)” this world! First, slice up your avocado into fry shapes. Next, season them with lemon juice. Then cover each piece with whisked eggs and a breading made from a mix of almond flour, parmesan cheese, paprika, salt and pepper. Air-fry the avocado fries for 10 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Then serve with ranch dressing.

3. Loaded bacon potato soup

Chilly days and soup go hand in hand. First, cook your bacon and set it aside. Next, make a roux. Then add half and half, chicken broth, sour cream and mild cheddar, followed by cooked potatoes, thyme, white pepper, parsley and cayenne. Pour the soup into a bowl. Then top off with green onions, bacon, fried onion chips, and more cheese and sour cream.

4. Crispy bacon and sticky honey potatoes

Potatoes are a cold-weather staple, and this sweet and savory recipe will definitely hit the spot. Begin by peeling potatoes and partially boiling them. Next, pour the potatoes into a separate pan with hot cooking oil. Then bake them in the oven until golden and crispy. Add butter and pancetta to a pan, followed by the potatoes and a drizzle of honey. Garnish with a sprinkle of salt, and it’s ready to serve!

5. Salad with roasted vegetables and toasted walnuts

This salad will have you reconsidering what a winter meal can be. The recipe involves mixed greens topped with roasted butternut squash and shallots, followed by a chutney dressing made with red onions, cranberries, lemon juice, lemon zest, water, cinnamon and brown sugar. Toasted walnuts and feta cheese make for a hearty finishing touch.
