Casually cool makeup, glowing skin and rumpled hair: One could argue that the whole “woke up like this” aesthetic was born in France. Artistic Makeup

Think dreamy washed-out colors (like the pale blue shadow shown above), varied textures (from matte to extra shiny) and designs (geometric, abstract and exaggerated lines).

Messy Buns

The more tousled and textured the better. Tip: This look works even better on second-day hair that’s the slightest bit gritty.

Brown Eye Makeup

Look for earth tones like brown, copper and bronze (ideally in cream or gel textures so you can easily smudge them across your lids using your fingertips).

French Fade Manicures

Aka "Baby Boomer nails," which is an admittedly odd name, but in practice very simple: an ombré French manicure that starts with a pink base and fades softly into white tips.

Burgundy Matte Lipstick

Keep the edges crisp and the rest of your makeup clean and simple. The lipstick itself is meant to be the focal point.
