Straining pasta is the worst. Having to carry a hot pot to the sink, pour it over a colander, and then transfer it back to the pot without somehow burning yourself or getting hot pasta water all over the floor is always a feat. Because I’m not the best at this particular step in the cooking process, I always have my eye out for solutions that will make cooking pasta even easier. And what do you know, Aldi has found a solution — and it will only cost me $5.

The discount grocer now has clip-on strainers for your pots. That’s right, this strainer will clip onto your pot, making it easier to pour out the hot water without having to transfer the pasta from one kitchen vessel to another. Everything just stays in one spot, and decreases your chances of getting scalded by hot water. Needless to say, it’s perfect.

These clip-on strainers come in two different colors: blue and pink. They sell for $4.99 each, are dishwasher-safe, and clip onto any of your wide rimmed pans or bowls easily.

These clip-on strainers are part of a larger collection of Crofton silicone kitchen supplies that Aldi currently has on shelves. They have a variety of lids in the same color — lids with 8.5-inch diameter, 10-inch diameter, or 12-inch diameter — that work well for your bowls or plates. They also have trivets in the same colors that work well for supporting those hot pots and pans that you place on the table for dinner. They’re heat-resistant up to 446 degrees, are non-slip, and have a reversible honeycomb texture.

So if you’re in the market for some new kitchen supplies, especially a colander that will save you from all of your pasta-straining woes, then head over to Aldi before they sell out!
