49ers Star Fred Warner Wore Custom Nike Air Yeezy 2 ‘Red October’ Cleats Ahead of Win Over Lions

Star San Francisco linebacker Fred Warner busted out a special pair of cleats ahead of his team’s comeback win against the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game.

While warming up for Sunday’s matchup, Warner wore a pair of custom Nike Air Yeezy 2 “Red October” cleats. The cleats were made by customizer Kota Kustoms, whose designs have appeared throughout the NFL and NBA. Red studs were added to match the famous all-red design of the highly sought-after sneaker.

The “Red October” colorway of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 was the final release from Kanye West’s partnership with the Swoosh and launched through a surprise drop in February 2014. By this point, the artist now known as Ye had already announced he’d signed a new deal with Adidas, and many thought the sneaker that West had debuted on Saturday Night Live and worn in a number of concert appearances would never go on sale to the public. Instead, Nike listed the “Red Octobers” on its website with no prior announcement.

Today, pairs of the all-read Nike Air Yeezy 2 colorway sell for as much as $26,000 on resale platforms such as StockX, making them the most valuable of all of West’s sneakers that have released to the public.

In an Instagram post sharing its design, Kota Kustoms said its “Red October” cleats were valued at over $20,000 — signaling that an authentic pair of the shoes went under the knife just for the occasion.

Kota Kustoms predominately makes cleats for NFL players — including pairs for Derrick Henry, CeeDee Lamb, and Deshaun Watson this season — but has occasionally dabbled in basketball sneakers for NBA players including Tyrese Haliburton as well.
