450,000-Plus Children’s Bibs and Blankets Recalled

Little Sleepies, the children’s fashion and clothing brand based in California, has recalled more than 450,000 units of two of its products that have been available to consumers for more than two years.

In a voluntary recall in partnership with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the company pulled all styles of its Sleepyhead Lovies, which are security blankets for young children, and Bandana Bibs, worn by children during feeding times or for teething. The recall was made in conjunction with Health Canada, since Little Sleepies sold over 3,000 units in that country.

The Oct. 12 decision came after two consumer reports showed that the products’ care instruction labels had become detached, posing a choking hazard for young children, according to the company.

In a statement on its site, Little Sleepies emphasized its commitment to its consumers.

“Little Sleepies strives to provide families with the highest-quality products, designed with craftsmanship and community at the heart of everything we do. With that, the health and safety of our customers and their little ones are of the utmost importance,” the brand posted.

To date, no injuries have been reported due to the Bandana Bibs and Sleepyhead Lovies, per the recall.

The company sold the recalled bibs and blankets, which were manufactured in China, for between $12 and $48 on its site, littlesleepies.com, and at children’s clothing boutiques from February 2021 to September 2023.

On its site, Little Sleepies advised consumers affected by the recall to remove the labels from the bibs and blankets. The company will accept pre-paid returns in exchange for a full refund for consumers who do not want to remove the label. Replacement products will not be available.

Little Sleepies joins a number of retailers in recent child-related recalls, including Carter’s, International Intimates and Little Cotton Clothes.

While Little Sleepies has removed the Sleepyhead Lovies and Bandana Bibs from its site, the products are still available for purchase on external sites. As of Oct. 16, Bandana Bibs could still be found on sites like Blossom Baby and Maternity and Connor and Cub; Sleepyhead Lovies were available on boutique sites, like Bundled Baybee and Love Child Toy Store.
