There are people out there who have no problem making themselves the center of attention—whether it’s on purpose or by accident. They’re the type to give themselves a bigger role in a story than they actually played, and they walk around as though they have a special theme song curated just for their lives (think “Bad Reputation” from 10 Things I Hate About You). We’re talking about the Elle Woods and Regina Georges of the world, you know, people who boast what TikTok has dubbed #MainCharacterEnergy. But, before we get all judgy, this phenomenon may actually have something to do with the stars. Below, check out the four zodiac signs with main character energy.
1. Leo (July 23 – August 22)
Ruled by the sun, it’s not really Leo’s fault that they think we are all side characters in the epic drama that is their life. They’re wired to believe the world revolves around them. And while they can be a tad clingy due to their constant need for reassurance, don’t confuse that with a lack of confidence. These prideful lions are naturally bold, brutally honest and self-reliant (almost to a fault), so if you sense that they’re fishing for a compliment, it’s mostly because they know they’re killing it in their summer best and they want to make sure you notice. Expect these fire signs to show up to brunch in bold designer Carrie-Bradshaw-style ‘fits or to a wedding in the same color as the bride a la Jane Fonda in Monster-in-law, simply because “that’s the color that goes best with their undertones.”
2. Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)
Aquarians are famous for being innovative, eccentric and trendsetting. And honestly, what screams main character than being the person that sets the tone for everyone else? These water bearers are essentially our north star. Unlike Leos who practically declare themselves the main character in our lives—with their “Look at me! Look what I have done!” attitudes, we really don’t have a choice—Aquarians just make us all want to be them because they’re so effortlessly cool. They’re the Shakiras of the world—the girlies who’ll have you belly dancing in your mirror after watching one video. Not only that, but Aquarians are open-minded and fair, so outside of the fact they put us on the latest trends, they’re also number one on our call list simply because they’re such solid friends. Classic Aquarius main character energy as demonstrated by the one and only main character in all of our lives: Oprah Winfrey.
3. Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
Darling, that vintage floor-length mirror with gold trimming, pricey mini bag from Nordstrom and $48 dollar liquid foundation is hardly reserved for the supporting cast. At least that’s what we can glean from these earth signs with expensive taste. While Tauruses don’t actively vie for attention, the way they conduct themselves screams main character. Exquisite taste aside, the bulls have fixed and fortified standards that everyone around them simply must follow without compromise. Think of Tauruses as the friend with rich auntie vibes—sorta like Cher, Adele or Queen Elizabeth II. They would never overtly flaunt their wealth, but being in their presence will have you talking and acting differently. These earth signs aren’t boastful, but when they walk in the door, everyone knows what time it is.
4. Libra (September 23 to October 21)
You know how sometimes when you’re invited to a party, you immediately want to know if a specific friend will be in attendance because they’re guaranteed to bring the laughs, the dance moves and even a little bit of drama if needed? Yeah, the person in mind is probably a Libra. These sunny delights have the ability to single-handedly shift the energy in a room and make any gathering all about them, kind of like Elle Woods. They’re the friend who will come up with a quippy game for everyone to play or cue the best jams for a long-winded road trip. And it totally comes naturally to them. Like Aquarians, Libras don’t force their main character vibes on anyone, they’re innately friendly, so it just comes naturally. Just don’t be surprised when they feel entitled to take the main seat at a birthday dinner or hijack a bridesmaid’s speech at a wedding.
