4 Things to Say to Your Partner This Month

All day long you’re in constant communication with your S.O. thanks to the wonders of technology. But are you really having a conversation or are you just updating each other on the status of your day? To help liven up the conversation and connect in a more meaningful way, here are four things we want you to try saying this month.

“I can’t wait to go to the beach when the weather is nice.”
Or go bike riding. Or enjoy dinner al fresco. Wherever your warm-weather interests lie, make it a point to set a date and put it on your shared calendar. This will give the two of you a chance to daydream about sandy feet and tan lines instead of stressing about how you’re going to afford those six weddings you have coming up this year.

Hey, wanna watch [insert favorite TV show] tonight?
Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of superheroes or slapstick comedy, it’s important to initiate something they want to do. We’re willing to bet your unprompted question will lead to a genuinely surprised reaction. Plus, this simple gesture may encourage your partner to do the same for you in the future.

Ive got it covered.
Take matters into your own hands and cross an item off his/her to-do list. Secure a Valentine’s Day reservation at that new Italian place. Change the broken light bulb above the sink. Take the garbage pails to the curb. No matter how big or small, he or she will appreciate not having to do it themselves.

“Thank you for doing that.”
Following that note, if your partner takes something off your plate, let them know you noticed with a little more fanfare. Did you just realize that the pan that has been “soaking” in the sink for two days mysteriously made its way back into the cabinet? Make it a point to say so.
