If we’ve heard it once, we’ve heard it a hundred times: “The glory days of flying are over.” While that’s true for the average person, for a deep-pocketed few, flying has never been more glorious! Or, indeed, glamorous. There are now lay-flat, massaging seats; menus by star chefs; and wine selections that rival any you’ll find on land. Here, the top 7, classiest first-class cabins with all the comforts of your very own bedroom—and then some (if you have to fly commercial, that is).

Etihad Airways: First Apartment

The irony of Etihad’s “First Apartment” is that it’s much nicer than any first apartment we’ve ever seen: you’ll have an 81-inch long bed (with turn-down service, natch), an armchair tufted in Italy’s iconic Poltrona Frau leather, and a private vanity, wardrobe, and wine cooler. Did we mention you’ll have a chef at-the-ready to fix you whatever you’d like, and that your pre-flight experience includes a complimentary chauffeur and Six Senses Spa treatments in the Etihad First Class Lounge? If we could afford to move in, we would. (Couples may prefer to book The Residence, which is similarly outfitted for two—and comes with a butler.)

Singapore Airlines: Suites

Unlike many other first class beds—which convert from seats—the glossy wood and leather Suites on Singapore Airlines have actual mattresses, with full-size pillows. Don’t forget to “Book the Cook” at least 24 hours before takeoff to have your meals prepared to your exact specifications; we’d recommend pairing them with more Dom Perignon Vintage 2004, your official welcome drink.

Air France: La Première cabin

There are only four of the new La Première cabins on each of the B777-300 planes, and they go fast. Here’s why: a chic, modern-looking gray leather and tweed suite; Givenchy toiletries; a Sofitel My Bed down duvet; and over 1,000 hours of on-demand movies and more to watch on your own 24-inch screen. An edible plus: none other than Joël Robuchon consulted on the menu.

Asiana: First Suite Class

Suites on Asiana feature an obscenely large personal TV screen (32 inches! The largest in the skies!), for your viewing pleasure. But that’s not what has us excited. In Asiana suites, you settle down in your 82-inch-long bed and look up to see a faux sky in the ceiling, awash in twinkling stars. Add to that complimentary Bulgari toiletries and Korean Royal Cuisine menu items—bibimbap, ssam sang—and we never want to leave.
