The $4 Aldi Item I Eat Every Day Is Finally Back

I'm sprinting to the store before they sell out.

By now, you probably already know that many of us here at Allrecipes are avid Aldi shoppers—especially me. So, saying the "one" thing I eat daily from Aldi is probably misleading, considering that I likely eat about 10 things daily from the German retailer. But, I tend to get more excited about my daily Aldi meals when they involve a harder-to-find item, like the Park Street Deli Layered Dip or a Mama Cozzi's breakfast pizza.

So, imagine my delight when I discovered that my favorite Aldi pickles are back on shelves after a long hiatus. Don't get me wrong, I love Grillo's fresh pickles as much as the next person, but even Grillo's can't compare to Aldi's fresh and spicy Park Street Deli Atomic Spicy Pickles.

Aldi's Atomic Spicy Pickles Are Back

“They’re finally back,” a Reddit user posted on May 13 with a photo of the pickles. "Pretty sure this has been gone for a year from [my store].”

While I can't pinpoint the last time I had Aldi's atomically spicy pickle chips, I know it's been at least a year or two. The fresh pickle chips went viral in the summer of 2020, presumably when they first hit shelves. That summer, I remember buying jar after jar to top my potluck burgers and pool sandwiches and, honestly, to eat straight from the fridge.

However, one day, Aldi's beloved Atomic Spicy Pickles disappeared from shelves in what some Reddit users have called "The Great Aldi Atomic Pickle Shortage."

It sounds like the pickles were gone for about three years at most locations before they popped up again. And while Aldi doesn't classify them as a seasonal product on its site, they seem to only hit shelves during the summer months.

Now, between Redditors spotting the pickles and Aldi advertising them for curbside pickup on its new website, I think it's safe to assume that the spicy pickles are back in some capacity. Whether that means they're an Aldi Find, a seasonal offering, or just a fluke at some stores, remains to be seen.

One thing's for sure, though: I'll check every Aldi store within a 10-mile radius to keep my fridge stocked with these extra-hot pickles this summer. Hopefully, this time around, Aldi's deli section will be continuously stocked with the fan-loved, farm-fresh pickles for at least the entire summer.

Please, Aldi, don't let us pickle-lovers down!
