From Town & Country

Our column "The Best Room At" offers a glimpse inside some of the most charming, luxurious, and iconic properties around the world.

Santorini might just be the most romantic place on earth-the sunsets are magical, the photo ops are endless, and the culture of indulgence seems virtually tailor-made for couples. But those who’ve stayed in the bustling white-washed village of Oia know that it can also be decidedly overwhelming, what with the hordes of tourists that fill the narrow streets from early in the morning until late in the evening. Which is why, if you look beyond Oia, you’ll find a handful of extraordinary hotels that grant you the proximity to Santorini’s epicenter if you want it…or the luxury of getting away from it all.

The best among these properties is no doubt Andronis Concept, a newcomer from the eponymous Greek hotel brand that opened in last summer. It’s a Mediterranean oasis dedicated to all things wellness-but not in the calorie-restrictive-bootcamp sense. At Andronis Concept, it’s about letting guests interpret “wellness” however they choose-for some, that means early morning hikes, yoga classes, and a private cooking class. And for others? It’s a lavish breakfast, followed by a massage, and a leisurely afternoon at the pool with a bottle of wine.

Since the hotel is just a ten minute drive from Oia, you might consider heading into town for sunset (the property provides free hourly shuttles) and coming back to the resort for dinner at Throubi. The on-property restaurant serves up mouth-watering Mediterranean cuisine that’s so good, you’d be shocked to find out they use minimal salt and no butter in their recipes.

Each of Andronis's 25 suites is magnificent in its own right, but one room in particular is considered the most sought after. Below, general manager George Giourtzidis gives us the inside scoop.
