Once you step foot on the grounds of Foxhill Estate, you may never want to leave. And it’s easy to see why. Built in 1959 by James Copley, the former publisher and journalist at the San Diego Union-Tribune, Foxhill Estate is considered one of the largest contiguous residential properties in La Jolla, an upscale seaside community within San Diego. The sprawling estate is perched atop a hill overlooking all of La Jolla and the ocean. Its hilltop location also means it is exceptionally private. In 1959, the Copley family tapped architect Drew Roy to create the French-inspired main residence, which has been extensively renovated over the past few decades. Still, much of Roy’s handiwork remains in place, including the dormer windows, mansard-style roof, and brick cladding.
Each room is just as sumptuous as the last, made with the finest materials and finishes. There are gleaming marble halls, ornate detailing, classical embellishments, and grand living spaces.
