The Fall 2019 ready-to-wear season has finally come to a close, and the Paris runways rounded out the month with a rather impressive grand finale of shows. Beauty looks on the French catwalks didn't disappoint, from the classic Chanel hair and makeup that accompanied Karl Lagerfeld's final collection for the house to the foil eyelashes at Giambattista Valli and colorful smoky eyes at Valentino. But show attendees didn't slouch when it came to hair and makeup, either.

The Paris shows basically served as an opportunity for one showgoer beauty flex after another: Janelle Monáe, for one, not only had the most fun with fashion while attending the shows — but she also incorporated delightful beauty elements into her looks, like blue eye shadow and gem-adorned double buns. Meanwhile, natural hair and protective styles — from jewelry-studded braids (see above) to cornrows to Afros to a slew of major curl moments — were very popular throughout the week, a development that was both inspiring and refreshing as hell.

The hair accessory fervor we've seen in street fashion and on the runways alike continued to reign supreme in Paris, mostly in the form of stacks of barrettes and headbands in rich textures, such as jewel-toned velvet. But there were also some eye-catching makeup moments that left us wanting to update our cosmetics bags immediately, like wine-colored lipstick with overt '90s vibes, electric-blue lipstick that was unabashedly fun, and the perfect peach-y lip color on none other than Alexa Chung, our perennial beauty (and everything else) muse.
