Charles Allem’s titular design studio is rooted in his native Johannesburg, South Africa, though his work has brought him to London, Hong Kong, New York—where he has a satellite office—and Miami, which he operates out of today. C.A.D International has brought boutique refinement and professionalism to interiors for over 20 years. The process begins with Allem’s quest to understand his client’s needs inside out, before his team of expert designers, draftsmen, architects, and project managers carry out a vision informed by both formal and functional factors.

The results encompass private residences in the Hamptons, New York City, and Los Angeles, hospitality projects in Hong Kong, and spas in Miami. Standout luxury commercial projects include luxury condominium developments such as the Bristol Palm Beach, and the Regalia in Sunny Isles.

Founded in 2013 by Jennifer Bunsa, this studio’s objective is to create a unique sense of place that is thoughtful, comfortable, and infused with soul. At the heart of the practice is a love of color, pattern, texture, and a strong desire to create spaces that feel lived-in and timeless. Bunsa Studio believes that the creation of soulful design comes from attention to detail, the incorporation of natural and hand-made materials, and blending the old with the new.

Born and raised in Miami, Bunsa’s love of design, history, and color was inspired from an early age by the city’s diverse culture and iconic architecture. She began her pursuit of design while studying color theory under Bernard Voichysonk (an understudy of Josef Albers during his time at Yale) at the University of Florida, and also studied Architectural Theory under Caroline Constant, who at the time was researching and writing her book on design icon Eileen Gray. The exposure to this research ignited Bunsa’s passion for and pursuit of knowledge for the decorative arts, which plays a crucial role in her work today.
