to an interview with Adele’s makeup artist, Michael Ashton, via Grazia, Adele’s
perfect cat's-eye is all thanks to $3 cotton swabs—specifically the Muji Thin Cotton Swabs
($3). Now, the reason these are so unique is because their tips are ultra-fine, allowing for absolute
precision when cleaning up the ends of eyeliner.
"A
normal Q-Tip is so chunky it makes a mess," Ashton explained in the
interview. "If you do it at a 45-degree angle, you can clean that line and
drag and lift because they're so fine, giving you that final flick," he
said, referring to Muji’s cotton swabs.
