<p>Andre Tcheslichef, arguably the greatest winemaker in California’s history, is uncle to <a href="https://www.quilcedacreek.com/contact.html" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Quilceda Creek;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">Quilceda Creek</a> owner, Alex Golitzen. Back in 1978, it was Tcheslischef who urged Golitzen to bond Quilceda Creek, making it Washington’s 12th post-prohibition winery. Add that to the list of things Tchelischef got right—Quilceda Creek, in the Columbia Valley, has gone on to produce some of the greatest and most powerful Cabernet Sauvignons, not only in the state but in the world.</p> <p>Experiencing them first hand is, of course, the best part of the hour-long winery tour, which is available by appointment, but we don’t recommend rushing to the end. The cellar is state-of-the-art, the tasting room is regal, and above all, the vines are truly gorgeous and meticulously manicured. After witnessing the excellence that exists at every level of production, the wines taste even better.
