1.Buffalo is used to getting A LOT of snow...
The lake band is still raging, but it's now south of the airport. Here's a view of our office with some rather impressive snow mounds in the foreground. Many (many) cars are still buried throughout the area.
2....but the blizzard they experienced over Christmas may be the worst EVER.
And there goes the internet.We had a good run.Also, here is what's visibly left of a car on my street.

4.Like on this road, where cars were completely buried on one side, while the other side was "relatively clear."
Cars on one side of the street are buried to the hood, the other side of the street relatively clear. This side street is undrivable still, not plowed. Can’t remember anything like this in Buffalo before.
5.Just look at this man's garage.

6.But nothing is worse than the roads.
The death toll is climbing in Buffalo, NY after that devastating Christmas storm. Dozens and dozens of cars left abandoned in the middle of streets and intersections. Meanwhile, the snow has yet to stop.
7.It's like everything was frozen in time.
This picture has gotten a lot of attention today - it was taken from the Sheridan Drive overpass looking north on Transit Road in Erie County at 9:30am... it really puts in perspective the importance of staying off the roads during a travel ban for the safety of everyone
8.Twenty-five people have been killed so far.
DOT crews working to have abandoned cars removed on the closed Kensington Expressway and ramps so plowing efforts can continue - this facility remains CLOSED while these efforts continue
9.And people had to be rescued via snow tube.
Amazing work by our State Fire crew from @NYSDHSES in Buffalo last night! With some help from a heroic neighbor, they rescued two people who were stranded in a car since Friday and brought them home.
10.It was, and still is, a real mess.

On my approach to Buffalo seeing evidence of our worst-ever storm: large tow trucks buried, and even some snow plows off the road. Our State crews are out working hard to clear the roads. Reminder to stay home and stay safe as they keep doing their work.

@dabubbby The city was finally able to get part of the street my family lives on in Buffalo plowed late last night, so we knew there was no way I was making a flight. Delta was trying to charge me $650 to switch to a later flight over the weekend 🙄
16.This thing called "the rook" is being used to move cars.

24.It's still a state of emergency, but people can absolutely "check on neighbors, go to open stores."
We are in an ongoing State of Emergency and a driving ban remains for the City of Buffalo. You can absolutely go out and walk to check on neighbors, go to open stores, etc. But do not drive.
