26 Year Legacy: AmRhein Wine Cellars in Roanoke County closing in June

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — After 26 years of viticulture and serving wine lovers in the Roanoke Valley, one winery in Bent Mountain has announced that it is closing its doors.

On May 20, AmRhein Wine Cellars announced that its tasting room will close on June 30. Owners, Russ and Paul Amrhein say the decision was not easy, but was the right decision for their family and the winery’s legacy. Owners say due to Russ’ health complications with Parkinson’s and the amount of time needed for his care, the decision was finalized.

Over the years, we’ve experienced countless joys, challenges, and triumphs, but through it all, one thing remained constant – your loyalty and enthusiasm for our wines,”

said Russ and Pual Amrhein.

During the last six weeks, the AmRhein Wine Cellars will open on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m., and wine prices will be discounted. The winery will still hold its live music every Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“While this chapter may be coming to a close, we take comfort in knowing that the spirit of AmRhein Wine Cellars will live on in the countless memories shared over a glass of our beloved wines,” said the owners. “It has been quite a ride! What an honor and a privilege it has been to serve you, and we will forever hold the memories close to our hearts.”
