250+ Skiing Santas Are Coming To A Maine Resort

It's the Nightmare Before Christmas at Sunday River... or is it a dream come true?

Love 'em or hate 'em, over 250 skiing santas will be mobbing the slopes of Sunday River in Maine on December 11th.

Hopefully you love 'em, because they're doing it with a purpose: Santa Sunday supports the River Fund of Maine.

All participants are required to ski in full Santa attire, no exceptions. That means a red Santa hat with white pompom, a red Santa jacket, red Santa pants, a Santa beard.

If you can't beat 'em, you still can't join 'em, because registration is now closed. (This is secretly good because that means all the spots filled up--and the fundraiser was a success!)

At the last event, over $5,000 was raised for the River Fund.

The River Fund creates educational opportunities so kids can find "careers to enjoy instead of jobs to endure" by granting college scholarships, facilitating educational workshops, and supporting community needs. We can all get behind that!

Excitingly, this year the first 75 Santas will be included in a private video shoot in support of the Boston Science Museum.

Sunday River officials explained that this video is for an IMAX film paying homage to New England, and is an "incredible opportunity to be on the big screen for the next 10 years."

To catch a glimpse of the scene, "head to South Ridge by 11AM to get a good view of the Santas."

Say what you want, but the East Coast wins most spirited holiday season, hands down. Or, since we're skiing, hands up!
