While I don’t drink coffee every single morning, I have it often enough to want it to be an enjoyable experience. I’ve tested more than a few coffee makers by now to pinpoint my preferences, but I’m still discovering trends and techniques to incorporate into my own routine. Though it’s not a requirement, I love a coffee beverage that not only tastes good, but looks good, too. And no, that doesn’t mean intricate latte art (which I can’t do at all). It can be accomplished with something as simple as a little block of ice. I’ve stocked up on a variety of ice molds from sustainable kitchen brand W&P from extra large cubes to fancier models like prisms and petals. In most cases, I’ve used them for cocktails and entertaining; however, the brand’s Ice Ball Box has surprisingly become a game-changer for my iced coffee.

What Is the Ice Ball Box?

Available in two colors, the Ice Ball Box from W&P is a tray and container combo that suits homes of all sizes. It’s especially convenient for those in small spaces, thanks to its vertical design and built-in storage. The three-piece set features a silicone ice tray that stacks neatly on top of a plastic storage container. A lid is also included that can be snapped onto the box or the ice tray to help keep your freezer clutter-free. The tray makes 36 ice balls at one time, and up to 96 of them — or three trays worth — can be stored in the box at one time. Bonus: If you fill it up before hosting a dinner party or another at-home event, the box doubles as an ice bucket you can keep nearby for entertaining. The Ice Ball Box is dishwasher-safe, and can be ordered individually or as a two- or four-pack. W&P also offers a similar Ice Box that makes traditional ice cubes.

Why I Love the Ice Ball Box

Besides the obvious aesthetically-pleasing ice the Ice Ball Box creates for my beverages, what I love most is its versatility. Our refrigerator has an ice maker so when it comes to regular ice cubes, I’m all set. However, after seeing countless TikTok videos that recommended prolonging your iced coffees and juices with specially-made ice, getting an ice tray didn’t seem like a bad idea. I started with water just to get used to using the silicone tray, and after a few rounds with it, I upgraded them to frozen balls of coffee. I typically mix both coffee and regular ice balls to make the drinks less intense, and overall, I’m very happy with the result.

The best part of my morning routine is grabbing one of my stylish lidded glasses and filling it with caffeinated ice before pouring cold brew and oat milk creamer over it. My next experiment with the Ice Ball Box will be juice drinks, but for now, I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience so far. There’s just something about spherical ice that really feels like a little luxury!
