Game night is always a good idea, and although classic board games like Monopoly and Candy Land are crowdpleasers, sometimes, you want to up the ante a little bit. You want a fun challenge that not only brings lots of laughs, but also offers a healthy dose of competition. And let’s face it, there are only so many times you can play Never Have I Ever or Truth or Dare before you know *all* of the most intimate details of your friends’ lives.

Whether you’re hoping to show off your skills (Chopped challenge, anyone?)or looking to try the latest and greatest viral TikTok trends, things will certainly get interesting with any one of the boredom-busting options below — but don’t forget the prizes if you want to see your friends really get into it. 20 Questions Challenge

Chances are you've probably already heard of this game. The goal here is to stump your friends. To play the game, one person is chosen as the answerer. The answerer has to pick something, usually an object, but they cannot reveal to the others what they've chosen. Now, your friends can ask up to 20 questions altogether to figure out what it is you've chosen. The catch is they can only ask yes or no questions.

Egg Drop Challenge

You'll be flexing your creative skills for this challenge. To play it, you'll need to get together a bunch of materials like newspapers, popsicle sticks, glue, or any other craft supplies you have on hand. If you're together, split your friends into groups, but if this is over video chat, everyone will have to work solo. Then, build something that will prevent an egg from breaking after it's thrown from a high height. Show off your creations and make sure to videotape while testing them out. The team or person that can keep their egg intact wins.

Impression Challenge

This challenge involves getting your friends to guess correctly. Write the name of several famous personalities onto a post-it and throw them in a hat. When it's your turn, you will prepare an impression of the person you've chosen. To win, your friends must be able to guess who you are.

The Final Dab Challenge

Wing night at home? Might as well try out the Final Dab from Hot Ones. You've seen your fave celebs trying it and now it's your turn to see if you can survive the final dab. To make it harder, have someone fake interview you so you have to answer questions while eating it. If Shawn Mendes can do it, so can you.

Chubby Bunny Challenge

An old-fashioned favorite you've probably played a dozen times during camp. You'll need a TON of marshmallows for this one. You and your friends try to find out who can fit the most marshmallows in their mouths. The one with the most wins!

No Mirror Makeup Challenge

Let's be honest here, a mirror is your best friend when you're trying to put your makeup on. But, for this challenge, you won't be able to use a mirror to make sure you did everything correctly. When everyone is done, vote on who did the best look sans mirror. You'll find out who the true makeup artists are in your friend group and who still has a little bit of learning to do.

Lemon Challenge

Lemons are great on food, but have you ever had tried one by itself? Well, it's time to put your taste buds to the test. Cut lemons into different wedges and see who can eat the most without giving up. Trust us, you'll want to quit after a few.

Try Not to Laugh Challenge

Gather around the living room and play your favorite funny YouTube videos. If someone starts to laugh, they get a point against them. Keep track throughout the night and the person with the least points is the winner.

100 Layer Challenge

This challenge is so easy to replicate and can be done with almost anything you have around in the house. Try to apply 100 layers of something you have lying around in the house (nail polish, t-shirts, lipstick, etc). See who can finish it the fastest and notice the hilarious results that come out of it.

Bubblegum Challenge

We've all added a second stick of gum when the first one starts to lose its flavor after a while. It's time to take it to another level and see how many sticks of gum you can chew at one time. Some people can fit an entire box so this will be a fun little challenge that will certainly lead to tons of bubble-making by the end.

Blindfolded Drawing Challenge

Unless you're the artist of your group, drawing can already be tough. Trying to draw without even seeing what is already on the paper is even harder. Make a friend put on a blindfold and give them something to draw (a tree, house, your friend, etc) and see the hilarious results.

Riff Off Challenge

Based on the legendary scene from Pitch Perfect, gather your friends and have your own Riff Off. The rules are the same as the movie: pick a category, sing a song that fits it, and the next person/team must start their song with the same word that the last person/team sang. If no one can join in after a minute, the current singer is the winner.

Whisper Challenge

Get ready to break out your loudest headphones for this one. One of your friends wears the headphones while another friend tries to whisper them song lyrics that they can't hear. See how long it takes them to get it right or time them and see which team can get the most points by the end of the round.

Popsicle Stick and Cup Tower Challenge

Using only popsicle sticks and plastic cups, see which person/team can build the highest tower. There are different ways to complete this and there will certainly be some interesting strategies thought up during this challenge.

Try Not to Sing Challenge

Create a new Spotify playlist and have everyone add their favorite sing-along songs. Gather around and listen to snippets of each song while trying not to join in along. Trust us, it's much harder than it sounds.

The Alphabet Challenge

Pick a topic and then starting with the letter A, you must figure out a word that fits the category that also starts with the letter. Go down the alphabet and see how far you can go. The person who messes up is out and the challenge restarts with a new topic until there is only one left.

Eat It or Wear It Challenge

This challenge is bound to get messy, so wear something that you don't mind getting dirty. To play, you'll need an assortment of foods, and each item will go into a separate numbered bag. When it's your turn, you will choose a number from a bowl and grab the bag of food assigned to that number. Now, you have to choose between eating a spoonful of that food or wearing it, as in wiping it all over your shirt or face. To make this game really hilarious, remember to add in a few foods that you think people won't like.

Mannequin Challenge

The mannequin challenge was so big around 2016, but that doesn't mean you can't revive it in 2o23. You know how this goes. Ask your friends to freeze like mannequins as you take a video of the room. Try not to flinch.

Ice Bucket Challenge

It was a big hit a few years ago, but that doesn't mean you can't still do it now. All you need is a large bucket of water with some ice inside and some willing participants. Then, get ready to hear some screams as the ice water hits them. Even better, have them donate to the ALS Association, in honor of the original challenge.

Blindfolded Makeup Challenge

Want some big laughs? Get some makeup and blindfolds and try to give each other makeovers without being able to see a thing you're doing. The one with the best look wins!

What's in the Box Challenge

Grab a bunch of objects around the house and put them in a box one by one. Have a person who has no idea what's in the box stick their hand in there and figure out what they're touching. Some of them might get freaked out over some objects while others will be completely wrong with their guesses in this hilarious game.

Guess the Oreo Challenge

Oreos come in a lot of different flavors and you'll need all the ones you can get for this challenge. Blindfold each person and see if they can guess which secret flavor of Oreo they got. The person who can guess most of them correctly wins!

The $10 Challenge

Want to spend some time outside of the house? Try the $10 Challenge and head to one of your favorite stores like Target or Walmart. Everyone has a $10 limit to buy something to use for the night. The person who finds the best item wins, plus, you'll likely get a new game or a fun snack along the way.

Blindfolded Hairstyle Challenge

Can you style your friend's hair without seeing how it's coming out? Well, now is the time to find out. Blindfold your friends and see who can create the best braid or any other hairstyle without letting them see it. (PS: Don't use hot tools for this. You definitely want to see what you're doing when using those.)

Guess the Lyric Challenge

Write down the first verse to your favorite song on a piece of paper and put them in a bucket. Each person will draw a paper and try to guess the lyrics that are supposed to come next. Check out our fave celebs do it. You can even use special themes to make the game even more fun:

Tin Can Challenge

Take cans of food from the kitchen and rip off all the labels. Mix the cans up so that way you don't remember which can is which. Open them up, grab some forks, and try to guess what each item is. You might get some interesting answers for some of them.

BeanBoozled Jelly Beans Challenge

You probably recognize this from Harry Potter as Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, but you can also try it as BeanBoozled Jelly Beans challenge. Spin the wheel and then pick up the jelly bean that matches the same color. Will you get a sweet flavor like coconut or a stinky one like a rotten egg?

Egg Roulette Challenge

Your fave celebs have played this for years and now it's time for you to step up to the plate and try it out. Grab a carton of eggs and hard-boil most of them, leaving a couple raw. Put them back in the carton (mix them up so you don't know which one is which or have another person do it). One by one, grab an egg and smash it on your head. Play until there aren't any hard-boiled eggs left and see who is the lucky person who survived the whole game without cracking a real egg on their head.

Q-Tip Dart Challenge

Grab your friends and try to see how good your aim is with just q-tips and a straw. Draw targets on a plain t-shirt and dip the Q-Tips in food coloring. One person wears the shirt with the other puts a Q-Tip in the straw one by one and blows it out onto their target. See who make get the most points by the end. (Note: Wear goggles so you don't accidentally get hit in the eye with a Q-Tip.)

One Chip Challenge

Not a fan of the cold? Then get ready to try something HOT. The One Chip Challenge was a big deal in 2017 and this might be one of your last chances to do it before it's gone forever. The challenge requires the person to eat an entire Paqui tortilla chip made out of the Carolina Reaper pepper, the hottest pepper on earth. While you can't get the chip on Paqui's page anymore, you can still try to get one on eBay, if you're up for it.

Brain Freeze Challenge

One of the best challenges for summertime, or the cruelest for winter. Stick your friends' feet into a bucket of ice-cold water, and start asking questions. These could be general knowledge questions or more personal questions — you can choose. The longer they take to answer, the more ice cubes you toss into the bucket. If they answer incorrectly, add more cubes. Whoever answers the most the quickest, wins!

Pass the Ball Challenge

Everyone sits in a circle and passes a ball around while music plays. When the music stops, whoever is holding the balloon is out and must do whatever the rest of the group dares them to do. Chopped Cooking Challenge

Get your cooking creativity juices flowing with this fun at-home challenge inspired by the Food Network series Chopped. In the series, chefs receive a basket of random ingredients and must use their expertise to combine them all and create a yummy dish. So, head to your pantry or the grocery store and select your own group of foods for your own challenge! Organize teams of 2-3 people or compete individually, then get cooking. Just make sure you have a judge — or a panel of a few — to decide who is the champion chef.

Three-Minute Makeup Challenge

This is one of many beauty challenges to go viral on TikTok, achieved by makeup gurus such as Mikayla Nogueira, Mirta Miler, and of course, Seventeen (see below!). Try to do your entire makeup routine in three minutes or less, no exception. See who among you and your besties is the fastest at perfecting their look in an absolute time crunch — you might even pick up some tips and tricks from each other along the way.

Fruit Roll-Up Challenge

Challenging yet absolutely delicious. Everyone uncoils a Fruit Roll-Up and tries to eat it as fast as they can — but there's a catch, of course. You cannot use your hands and must keep them clasped behind your back or down at your sides. Whoever finishes first, wins! But hey, at least everyone gets to eat a Fruit Roll-Up.
