1.Vanessa Hudgens has admitted to having several run-ins with spiritual entities over the years. She said, "I've accepted the fact that I see things and I hear things."
On an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Vanessa told Kelly about one of the first supernatural encounters she had when she was only 8 years old. "I remember getting ready for school when I was 8 years old, and there was...you know, those ducks [toys] that you pull [the string]? There was one of those on the dining room table, and I started walking, and it just started going alongside me," she said. "I kind of shut it down for a while because it's scary. The unknown is scary. But recently, I was like, 'No, this is a gift and something that I have the ability to do, so I'm going to lean into it.'"
She also revealed that she sometimes uses a spirit box (a tool used by ghost hunters to analyze radio frequencies) to help her understand what the ghosts are saying.
2.Demi Lovato shared that her childhood home in Texas was haunted by a little girl named Emily.
Back in 2013, they told BuzzFeed, "My house in Texas is so ridiculously haunted. Not by a bad spirit, but a little girl. I think her name is Emily. I've had a medium come over and ghost hunters, and they both told me the same name, Emily. There were so many times that I saw her when I was growing up. I saw her in my closet one time. When I was 3 years old, my mom caught me talking to something by myself. She asked, 'Who are you talking to?' and I said, 'My best friend Emily.' She's playful. She'd probably be around 11 or 12 years old, maybe younger."
She added that she has a strong connection to the afterlife: "I believe that everyone can tune into that part of their mind. I think I have a really strong connection to the afterlife. … When I walk into a room, I can tell if something has happened there or not or if a hotel is haunted."
In 2021, Demi's ghost-hunting show Unidentified with Demi Lovato premiered on Peacock where she appeared to communicate and sing to a ghost who didn't "like men."
3.Lily Collins revealed that she received support from Ted Bundy's victims while filming Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
She told the Guardian that while filming, every night at 3:05 a.m., she was "woken up by flashes of images, like the aftermath of a struggle." She explained, "I discovered that 3 a.m. is the time when the veil between the realms is the thinnest and one can be visited. I didn't feel scared. I felt supported. I felt like people were saying, 'We're here listening. We're here to support. Thank you for telling the story.'"
4.Keanu Reeves and his nanny saw a ghost appear in his room, while his sister was fast asleep next to them.
In 2014, he told Jimmy Kimmel, "I'm probably, like, 6, 7 years old, we'd come from Australia. Renata, [our] nanny, in the bedroom, my sister is asleep, she's sitting over there, I'm hanging out. There was a doorway, and all of a sudden, this jacket comes waving through the doorway, this empty jacket — there's no body, there's no legs, it's just there. And then, it disappears."
He added, "I was a little kid, and I thought, 'Okay, that's interesting,' and I looked over at the nanny, and she [was making this terrified face]. And I'm like, 'Oh, wow, so that was real.'"
5.Whitney Cummings accidentally channeled a demon and was tricked into thinking she was having an emotional conversation with a "trans ghost."
In the pilot episode of the series Conjuring Kesha, Whitney joined her close friend and pop star Kesha on a trip to a haunted prison located in the mountains of Tennessee. Kesha told Seth Meyers that while they were at the prison, Whitney "was upstairs having this beautiful moment, crying" because she thought she was "having a full conversation with a trans ghost." She added that meanwhile the demonologist, who accompanied them on the trip, was downstairs screaming, "Get her out of there! It's a demon! It's a trick!"
6.Kesha was once woken up by a ghost in a "sensual way" while she was in bed asleep next to her boyfriend.
Back in 2012, Kesha told Conan O'Brien that she'd gone "to the bone zone with a ghost," while she was on a trip in Fort Worth, Texas. Years later, she clarified that she didn't actually have sex with the ghost, but while she was in bed with her boyfriend, she was woken up by "a touch down the body." She added, "I woke up and looked at the end of the bed, and there was an apparition of a woman."
7.Megan Fox and her kids' nanny heard ghosts pouring coffee and setting the table while staying at a hotel in Mexico.
In 2014, she told MTV News, "I was just in Mexico at my hotel, and it was a bedroom, living room, bedroom. … I had pre-ordered breakfast for 7:30, and at 7 a.m., I hear them come in with the table, I hear them pouring the coffee. … 30 minutes later, at 7:30, I went in there, no table, no coffee, no food, no nothing, no one there. Doorbell rings, I open the door, it's room service with my food. … Brandy, the nanny, comes out later and says, 'Why did room service come at 7 when we told them to come at 7:30?' So, you can't tell me I'm crazy because two people heard it."
8.Miz Cracker lived in a haunted house with her friends while they were in college, she also revealed that the supernatural activity caused a "total unraveling" of their friendship and sanity.
She told Entertainment Weekly, that over the course of six months, she and her roommates remembered waking up in the middle of the night to the sounds of someone making weird noises in the kitchen and walking around upstairs. She said, "Our friendships deteriorated. One of the girls legitimately lost her mind and is now fully missing. It was sort of like an Amity Horror-type film where we were sleep deprived, twitchy people who were haunted."
She added, "I came home, and the house was apparently empty. I heard mild laughter [upstairs]. … I hadn't heard my roommate laugh in so long. I went upstairs, and the door was ajar, so I was going to go in and jump on her bed like the old days. I opened the door, and the room was blacked out fully, the windows were covered with blankets. She was sitting and laughing into the heating vent. … I was like, 'Brooke, what are you doing?' And she turned around and was like, 'What do you want!?' Just monster-like crazy, her eyes were spinning, like that little giggly laughter just snapped off, and I ran out of that room and out of the house. … It was the craziest Exorcist transition I've ever seen in person."
9.Matthew McConaughey said that his home was haunted by an entity named Madame Bleu.
Back in 2009, he revealed the first time he saw her, saying, "I was not even under the influence, and she was there. She wasn't that happy; it didn't seem like she was going to be much fun to hang around or have in my house, so I went ahead and stood my ground. I opened the door and said, 'You can move around all you want, but I'm not going anywhere.' For weeks, everyone that came to the house said the same thing: 'There's someone down in that hall; there's somebody down in that hall.'"
10.Jenna Bush Hager said that while living in the White House, she and her sister Barbara witnessed some supernatural behavior in their bedroom.
In an interview with Kelly Clarkson, she explained when she was a teenager, she discovered that the building was haunted. "They were musical and came with no harm. They were kind, friendly, compassionate ghosts." She said, "It was in college when people would call late. And our phone rang, and I woke up, and all of a sudden, we heard 1920s piano music coming out of our fireplace. And I was like, 'Surely, that's the cat or something.' But it was the middle of the night, and you could feel the music out of the fireplace. We tried to talk ourselves out of it, too."
11.Kristen Stewart revealed that she talks to ghosts sometimes.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, she explained, "I talk to them. If I'm in a weird, small town, making a movie, and I'm in a strange apartment, I will literally be like, 'No, please, I cannot deal. Anyone else, but it cannot be me.'" She added, "Who knows what ghosts are, but there is an energy that I'm really sensitive to. Not just with ghosts but with people. People stain rooms all the time."
12.Megan Mullally said that the ghost of Nicole Brown Simpson haunted the house she shared with Nick Offerman.
On an episode of Busy Tonight, Megan explained, "It wasn't the same house, but it was on the same property where had once stood a house that O.J. Simpson had rented for Nicole Brown Simpson. We would have in that house, in one corner of the house, like maybe where the bedroom used to be in the old house, we would have all these sounds and weird things all the time. I would be like, 'That's Nicole, and she's pissed because Nick doesn't get it.'"
She added that after Nick watched The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, the noises stopped, "She just needed Nick to understand what happened."
13.Helena Bonham Carter communicated with Princess Margaret, with the help of a medium, before playing her on The Crown.
Helena explained that she wanted the princess's blessing before portraying her in the series. According to Helena, Princess Margaret said, "'You're better than the other actress'...that they were thinking of. They will not admit who it was. It was me and somebody else. That made me think maybe she is here because that is a classic Margaret thing to say. She was really good at complimenting you and putting you down at the same time."
The ghost added, "'Get the smoking right. I smoked in a very particular way...the cigarette holder was as much a weapon for expression as it was for smoking.'"
14.Chloë Sevigny heard supernatural "moaning and groaning" one night when she and her then-boyfriend spent the night in the house where Lizzie Borden allegedly killed her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892.
She told Entertainment Weekly, "I kept hearing all these weird moaning and groaning noises, but there wasn't anybody else in the house. It was terrifying. It was pretty early, and [my then-boyfriend] was like, 'I have to leave.'"
The creepy encounter inspired her to produce and star in Lizzie, the 2018 movie that reimagined Lizzie Borden's infamous crime.
15.Kate Hudson revealed that she and her mom Goldie Hawn "can see dead people."
She explained, "It is not really seeing, it is feeling a spirit. A fifth energy. I believe in energy. I believe our brains can manifest into visual things." She also added a helpful tip for anyone who does see a spirit: "When you see something, you are supposed to tell the energy what year it is and that they don't belong there."
16.Jessica Alba encountered a supernatural force while living in her childhood home: "I had no idea what it was. I felt this pressure, and I couldn't get up, I couldn't scream, I couldn't talk, I couldn't do anything."
She explained, "Something definitely took the covers off me, and I definitely couldn't get off the bed, and then, once I did, I screamed, ran to my parents' room, and I don't think I spent many nights in that house ever again. … There was definitely something in my parents' old house — I don't know what it was. I can't really explain it. But they got it blessed, and they burned sage and stuff since then."
17.Cher revealed that the ghost of her ex-husband Sonny Bono, who died in 1998, plays tricks on her.
During a Reddit AMA, Cher was asked if she was afraid of ghosts. She responded, "I love ghosts. I actually think that Sonny makes a light go on. I have a beautiful chandelier that he makes the light go on when it is impossible; there is no power on. I love ghosts. I prefer ghosts to some people."
18.Laura Linney became a believer in ghosts after meeting one of the famous spirits who lives in the Belasco Theatre on Broadway.
She told James Corden, "I was not a believer. I had been told about the ghosts at the Belasco. … There was a mysterious death of a chorus girl [at the theater]. Legend is that final dress rehearsals, that's when the ghosts come out. I had forgotten this, and I was doing a play with Jane Alexander, and I turned to Jane Alexander, and I looked up to the upper balcony — there are two balconies there — and the upper balcony you can only get in from the outside, and those doors were locked, and I looked up, and there was a woman standing in the front row looking over with a blue dress and blonde hair. I just thought, 'Well, hello!' I looked back at Jane, and I looked back up, and she was gone."
She added that the house manager confirmed her suspicions. "I went to the house manager, and I said, 'Joe, I think I saw a ghost.' And he went, 'Male or female?' I said, 'Female.' And he went, 'Blue dress, blonde hair?'"
19.Dale Earnhardt Jr. claims that the closest thing he's had to a paranormal encounter was when someone — or something — carried his body out of a car wreck.
On an episode of his podcast The Dale Jr. Download, he shared, "When I wrecked the Corvette in 2004 in Sonoma, and it caught fire, somebody pulled me out of that car. And I thought that it was a corner worker because I felt somebody put their hands under my armpits and pull me out of the car. I didn't get out. I don't have any memory of myself climbing out of the car."
He continued, "And I remember sort of moving, like, in motion, like going to lean forward and try to climb out of the car, and then, something grabbed me under the armpits, pulled me up over the door bars, and then let go of me. And I fell to the ground, and there's pictures of me laying on the ground next to the car. I know that when I got to the hospital, I was like, 'Who pulled me out of the car? I gotta say thanks to this person,' because it was a hand! It was physical hands grabbing me! I felt it. And there was nobody there."
20.Dorinda Medley revealed that she believes there are spirits who roam around her historic estate in the Berkshires and that she's felt the presence of her husband Richard, who died in 2011.
She told People, "I think that if you are a good person, you will have good spirits in your life, and I think if you're a negative or a bad person, that attracts negative spirits. Because I've suffered loss, I believe that people don't go away, they just transform into different energy. So, I definitely think there's all kinds of good energy, blessed energy in this house." She added, "Have I felt, like, the presence of Richard or the presence of maybe, you know, someone that I think loves me, a guard? ... Yes."
21.Emma Stone shared that her grandfather's spirit leaves her quarters.
In 2014 on Late Night with David Letterman, Emma explained the her family has a long history with quarters. "My grandfather leaves quarters. It's him. It's absolutely him." And although she never got the chance to meet him, she said, "It's not a logical thing, it's magical."
22.Ariana Grande said that while on tour in Kansas City, she encountered a demon.
In 2013, she told Complex, "I've had a ghost/demon experience. We were in Kansas City a few weeks ago and went to this haunted castle and were so excited. The next night, we wanted to go to Stull Cemetery, which is known as one of the seven gates to hell on Earth. … I felt this sick, overwhelming feeling of negativity over the whole car, and we smelled sulfur, which is the sign of a demon, and there was a fly in the car randomly, which is another sign of a demon."
She continued, "I was like, 'This is scary, let's leave.' I rolled down the window before we left and said, 'We apologize. We didn't mean to disrupt your peace.' Then, I took a picture, and there are three super distinct faces in the picture — they're faces of textbook demons."
23.Lucy Hale revealed that she had a ghost living in her home, and it turned on her coffee maker and closed her doors.
Back in 2010, she told Hollywood TeenZine, "Doors close, not slam, but they close. And I have a motion sensor that lights up in my apartment, and I swear it lights up sometimes when there's nothing under it. And my dog barks a lot. I don't feel threatened, that threatened, but it definitely freaks me out."
24.Selena Gomez has a ghost-hunting app on her phone and said that in the past, it has actually detected spiritual beings around her.
In 2015, she told Jimmy Fallon, "I believe in ghosts, so I have a ghost app. … I believe that spirits can tap into technology. Why not, right? ... Look, I was in a venue, and [the ghost] actually said people in my life by name."
25.And finally, Miley Cyrus experienced some kind of otherworldly forces while she was staying in a haunted apartment in London.
"It was seriously so terrifying. … I was having really crazy dreams and really scary things, and one night my little sister — it sounds crazy to tell you — but she was standing in the shower, and all of a sudden, I hear her scream. I run in there, and the water had somehow flipped to hot, but it was still. … It wasn't like the water had just changed, the knob had turned, but she hadn't turned it, and it was burning her. She was really red," she told Elle UK.
"Before I felt this, I thought I had seen a little boy sitting on the sink watching me take a shower, so I felt really freaked out," she added before saying that she ended up leaving the apartment and staying somewhere else.
