The 25 Best Sheets You Can Buy, and Some Are on Sale for Sleep Week!

Parade's definitive list of the best sheets on the market.

I'm a big believer in the importance of great sheets...after all, you spend a third of your life wrapped in them. This has put me on a never-ending journey to find the best of the best, and the most important thing I've learned is that the best sheets is entirely personal. Before you even start considering sets, you first have to make a decision about your needs. Do you sleep hot or cold? Do you prefer something silky or crisp? What's your budget? These questions and others will help you narrow down your search, which will then begin with materials: cotton, jersey, linen, silk and alternative fibers.

There are two primary kinds of cotton sheets, sateen and percale, that are determined by their weave. Sateen has a three-over-one weave that's looser and silkier, creating heavier and warmer sheets. Percale, on the other hand, is what you can expect at hotels: a one-over-one weave that's crisp, cool, and durable with a matte finish. If you go the cotton route, thread count is a consideration worth making, though not as make-or-break as you think. It has to do with the number of threads in a square inch of fabric, but far more noteworthy is what the threads are actually made of and how long they are. Not all cotton is created equally, as you'll learn more about through our list, and you should aim for long-staple threads that are stronger and softer than regular ones.

Jersey is another kind of cotton sheet, but instead of being woven, it's knit. It's also fairly low maintenance and as soft and stretchy as your most trusty worn tee. Next up is linen, which is made from flax plants and has a casual, slightly wrinkled look. Aesthetics aside, people love this fabric because it's super breathable and gets softer with every wash. Silk, which is made from the cocoons of silkworms, is less popular because of the higher cost and amount of care required. That said, its luxurious feel, super smooth surface silk, and temperature regulation can't be denied. Finally, there are all the different alternative fibers, some of which are natural and others that are manmade. Popular examples include microfiber, bamboo, eucalyptus, hemp and lyocell (aka Tencel), which are all explained in the list.

No matter what material you choose, we have the best sheets for you below.

Here at Parade.com, we're all about sharing products we love with our audience. When you make a purchase on an item seen on this page, we may earn a commission, however, all picks are independently chosen unless otherwise mentioned.
