A 23-year-old New Bedford man was fatally shot in Philadelphia. Here's what we know.

NEW BEDFORD — A 23-year-old New Bedford man was fatally shot in a Philadelphia parking lot on Wednesday, May 3, according to Philadelphia police.

According to police, New Bedford resident James Cundiff was shot in the chest and shoulder while in a car out in back of a shopping plaza in the 6200 block of Bustleton Avenue around 4:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Cundiff was then taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:52 p.m., according to police.

In a press release, police noted investigators had not recovered any weapon, and the investigation remained ongoing with the Homicide Detective Division.

On Friday, Jane Roh, a spokesperson for the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, said she was not aware of any arrests relative to this case.
