While most cute sandal styles are timeless, there are a few details to look out for this season. One of the biggest trends? Square toes. We saw the modern accent popping up in winter boots, and now it’s transitioned into warm weather footwear. “If you’re getting married or attending a wedding directly on the sand, consider a flat sandal or comfortable wedge,” suggests Marie. On the other hand, for nuptials on hard surfaces, you can opt for a thinner heeled alternative, if that’s up your alley.
The different types of wedding sandals
Comfortable Flats: “Flat sandals are great to wear for a beach wedding because they are easy to slip on and off and sturdy enough that you won’t sink into the sand,” explains Marie. They look great with all dress lengths, but Marie’s favorite way to style them is with a midi silhouette. Wedges: “I love a good espadrille wedge sandal for a beach wedding, especially when paired with a wrap dress,” Marie says.
Low Heeled Sandals: “A low heel is great, because again it allows you to walk in sand without sinking,” reiterates the pro. Pair yours with a flowy silk skirt or dress.
Block Heeled Sandals: “Block heels are another stylish option that are easy to take off,” she says. Plus, they offer more underfoot support than stilettoed alternatives.
When it comes to the color of your beach wedding sandals, as a general rule of thumb, keep the palette relatively neutral. That means whites, tans and metallics are all good options. You can even throw in a subtle color (like a pastel lilac) or a low key print to add a fun yet subtle twist to your bridal look.
