stuart moyle: Trump doesn't have a clue about Article IV of the Constitution, and the fact that Puerto Rico has already approved statehood for their Nation. Now all it takes Congress to ratify it for this territory to become a State. also there are other things that Puerto Rico must do to be in compliance with the Constitution before it can be become a State. They are: 1. There can no longer be a church-State; it must be like all other States' citizens have the right to choose how they will/will not worship a Supreme Being, as long as it doesn't infringe on another's rights; 2. Two Senators and a number of Representatives (depending on this area's population) to represent them in Congress; at which time an additional star will be approved by Congress and added to the US Flag; 3. All laws and Constitution now in existence for Puerto Rico have to be changed to comply with the US Constitution; and be ratified by 2/3 of both Houses of Congress and all the citizens of Puerto Rico; 4. The President of this Nation has no input into this process, other then to make recommendations; and finally 5, The payment that Congress illegally imposed upon Puerto Rico imposed on Puerto Rico shall be removed; and all businesses of any kind shall be approved by the new Sate's Legislation. Like all other States in the Union, they, and they alone, can ratify any new amendment to the US Constitution. It appears that the President has a misconstrued idea what the office of the Office of the President, and the individual can/cannot do. When the proposal for writing of the first constitution under the Articles of Confederation didn't want any one person would have so much power it would make him/her a dictator. That was why when Alexander Hamilton proposed giving the Office of the President to a Prince from Prussia it was soundly defeated, and why James Madison, the Father of the Constitution stated that the Federalist Papers not be used to interpret the writings of the Constitution; but only the notes taken on this Convention shall be used as its guidelines. Also, only those delegate elected to Congress can make any changes to the Constitution in any manner, as per Article V of the Constitution. I wish individuals, especially all those elected, appointed, or hired by every level of Government, would fully study and apply these principles when voting at the ballot box in the State they reside in with no outside influences of any kind , including any political, party, monies, etc.
