21 Movie Scenes So Cringey, I Literally Have To Cover My Eyes During Them

You know when you're watching a movie and a scene makes you cringe so hard that you literally can't watch anymore? AKA, you get secondhand embarassment.

Fox

Well, I get secondhand embarrassment REALLY badly, so I've decided to compile a list of 21 movie moments that just make me want to hide my face. Here they are!

1.When Satine is seducing Christian in Moulin Rouge!:

Satine saying "yes, this is what I want, naughty words" then screaming and gasping as Christian recites his poetry

I LOVE this movie, and I think this scene in funny, but god is it uncomfortable to watch, especially after Satine starts moaning and screaming. It gets to the point where I'm just begging Christian to break into song.

20th Century Fox

2.When Maggie tries to kiss Mike in 17 Again:

Maggie says she can play games and pretends to be a lion as Mike shrinks away, then Maggie tries to unbuckle his pants and he says "if only you knew how dysfunctional this is!"

This is literally a daughter trying to kiss her father. It's more gross than funny. No thanks!

Warner Bros. Pictures

3.And also when he "reads" Scarlett the "letter from Mike":

Mike says if he loves Scarlett, he should let her move on, and Scarlett looks thoughtful, then the judge tells Mike to go

I literally cannot watch this scene. The judge and everyone else in there are like, "what the fuck?" and I could not agree more, even knowing the context of it.

Warner Bros. Pictures

4.When Elisa makes a hand gesture to show how the creature's penis works in The Shape of Water:

Fox Searchlight Pictures

I know this is a tiny moment, but I HATE IT SO MUCH. Ugh, this movie.

5.When Jackson walks on stage during Ally's Grammy win and pees in his pants in A Star Is Born:

Jackson peeing himself onstage as Ally accepts her Grammy

This scene is really horrible and uncomfortable to watch, and it's far more sad than awkward, but still. I can barely sit through it.

Warner Bros. Pictures

6.The threesome scene in Zoolander:

Paramount Pictures

It's supposed to be funny, but to me it's just cringey.

7.When Dewey's identity gets exposed and he tries to tell the parents what he's been doing in School of Rock:

Dewey says he's not a teacher, but the kids have touched him, and he's touched them too, as the parents look disgusted

He could've chosen better words.

Paramount Pictures

8.When Mrs. Doubtfire was exposed as Daniel in Mrs. Doubtfire:

Daniel asks Stu if he's okay, then realizes his mask is off and Miranda recognizes him

I just picture being in this situation and my skin starts to crawl. Not that I would be in this situation. If you think about it, this movie is pretty messed up.

20th Century Fox

9.When Lara Jean lip-synched to "Moral of the Story" in To All the Boys I've Loved Before:

Netflix

I know it's not supposed to be cringey, but I literally can't watch it.

10.When Schmidt did a slam poem on the spot in 22 Jump Street:

Schmidt yells things like "angry! yelling! specific point of view!" then starts riffing off Cynthia's name, saying "Jesus died for our SIN-thia!"

To be fair, it is VERY quotable.

Sony Pictures Releasing, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

11.The entire dance-off scene in Bring It On: All or Nothing:

Universal Studios Home Entertainment

Why did I think this was a great, normal scene as a kid??

12.When Buddy thought Miles was an elf in Elf:

Buddy says he didn't know elves worked there, and Miles sarcastically says he's hilarious. Buddy then asks if Santa know he left the workshop
New Line Cinema

Pistachio: "Am I not turtley enough for the turtle club?" Bouncer: "Is he okay?"

Really, the entire movie.

14.The dance scene in Spider-Man 3:

Sony Pictures Releasing

To this day, I have not been able to rewatch this movie.

15.When Shelly went on a second date with Oliver in The House Bunny and tried to sound well-read:

Oliver asks Shelly who she's voting for, and she says she's not sure, but she usually listens to Paula and Randy over Simon because Simon is so mean
Sony Pictures Releasing

16.Basically, every time Fletcher told the truth in Liar Liar, but especially when he was in the elevator with the woman and couldn't stop talking about her boobs:

Fletcher telling a woman people are being nice to her because she has big jugs, then calling her boobs huge and saying he wants to squeeze then, then making a sucking sound and yelling "mama!"
Universal Pictures

17.The dance-off scene in White Chicks:

Sony Pictures Releasing

You're probably sensing a theme with dance-offs here.

18.When David tries to tell Elizabeth's sister that he's seeing her ghost in Just Like Heaven:

David says Elizabeth is with him right then, and he can see her sister's spirit — Elizabeth's sister stares at him
DreamWorks Pictures

19.When Viola got a little too in her feelings as Sebastian in She's the Man:

Viola, as Sebastian, says "you think you know someone, then you realize it's all been a big lie...every touch...every kiss"
Paramount Pictures

20.When Sally fakes an orgasm in a diner in When Harry Met Sally:

Columbia Pictures

If I were in that diner...I would simply leave.

21.And finally, the sex scene from Superbad:

Becca tells Evan he has a smooth cock and Evan says "thank you, you would too, if you were a man"
Sony Pictures Releasing
