21 "Hawkeye" Details And Easter Eggs From Episode 3 That Are Small, Clever, And Just Awesome
🚨Warning: There are MASSIVE spoilers ahead for Hawkeye Episode 3 on Disney+!🚨
Hi, hello, and welcome back to these Marvel posts where I try to break down everything I spotted. So, here are all the details I noticed in Hawkeye Episode 3:

1.First, this episode is titled "Echoes," which is a nod to Maya Lopez's secret identity in the comics. She goes by Echo and is often seen in the Daredevil comics.
2.If you look closely, you can spot a circle tattoo made up of small triangles on Maya's dad's chest. A similar symbol also appears on Echo's costume in the New Avengers comic books.
3.When Maya asks her dad if dragons are real, he says they live in a different world, which likely relates to what we learned about dragons in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
4.The uncle who picks Maya up from her karate class could definitely be Kingpin, aka Wilson Fisk, who we last saw in Netflix's Daredevil. In the comics, Kingpin is Maya's adoptive father.
While it hasn't 100% been confirmed by Marvel that Vincent D'Onofrio will be reprising his role in Hawkeye, but it would be hard to ignore Maya's connection to the iconic Marvel villain.
5.Maya rides her motorcycle up to "Fat Man Auto Repair," and that's where she sees a fight breaking out. Not to be dramatic, but I'm assuming this is a nod to Kingpin and how he's who Maya and her dad are working for.
6.Now, Maya watches as Ronin kills everyone, including her dad. In the comics, Kingpin is the one who ordered her dad's murder, so I'm wondering if that could be the case here as well.
In the comics, Maya's dad secretly worked for Kingpin too.
7.When Maya watches her dad die and he puts a bloody handprint on her face, it's a nod to a very iconic moment in the comics.
In the comics, when Maya's dad dies he also leaves a bloody handprint on her. When she grows up, Maya is often seen as Echo with a white handprint on her face.
8.You'll notice that Clint and Kate are being held inside an abandoned KB Toys, which was a real toy store that went out of business in 2009.
9.Clint tells Maya that Ronin was killed by Black Widow, which connects to when Natasha found Clint as Ronin in Avengers: Endgame and told him to come and help the Avengers bring everyone back.
This was the last time Clint put on the Ronin suit, so he isn't lying when he said Black Widow "killed" Ronin.
10.When Kate and Clint escape the Tracksuit Mafia and Maya, Kate wants to take a 1972 Red Dodge Challenger, which was Clint's car in the Matt Fraction and David Aja Hawkeye comics.
11.You can spot a "Trust a Bro" van, which is a hilarious and clever nod to the Tracksuit Mafia's overuse of the word "bro" in the Fraction and Aja run of Hawkeye comics.
12.The car chase between Clint, Kate, and the Tracksuit Mafia is something that is taken directly from Matt Fraction and David Aja's Hawkeye Issue #3 from 2012.
13.While Clint drives the car and Kate fires trick arrows in the show, in Hawkeye Issue #3 (2012), the roles are reversed and Kate drives the '70s Challenger while Clint shoots.
14.Also in that comic, Kate complains about Clint not labeling his trick arrows, which happens in this episode too.
In the comic, Kate tells Hawkeye, "If you'd labeled these stupid things like you said instead of—" after she hands him a bola arrow instead of an acid arrow.
15.Clint's putty, explosive-tip, suction-tip/plunger, cable, acid, and smoke bomb arrows are all seen in this episode, and they were also used by Clint and Kate in Hawkeye Issue #3 (2012).
16.The Tracksuit Mafia car chase ends on a bridge, which is, you guessed it, exactly how the car chase ends in Fraction and Aja's Hawkeye Issue #3 (2012).
17.The final arrow Clint uses was created by Pym and is filled with Pym particles in order to make it grow. Of course, Clint got to work with Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne in Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame.
In the comic, Clint's final arrow during the car chase is a boomerang arrow.
18.Another clue that points at "Uncle" actually being Kingpin is the fact that in the comics Kazi goes by Clown and works for, you guessed it, Kingpin.
19.When Kate suggests Clint get a new costume, she draws Hawkeye's original (and iconic) outfit from the Marvel comics.
Clint's comic look always included a winged mask and a giant "H," just like Kate's drawing.
20.When Clint tells Kate to name the dog, she tries a bunch of names and comes up with Pizza Dog, which is the nickname for Clint and Kate's dog Lucky in the comics.
21.And finally, Kate and Clint learn that Kazi is employed by "Sloan Limited," and I'm ready for any and all theories. This being related to Jason Sloan seems like a good guess since he's connected to Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil.
