Looking at pictures of celebrity dental implants before and after treatment is one of our favorite activities, as it reminds us that achieving that perfect Hollywood smile is possible regardless of what your teeth look like at the start. And although some of the biggest A-listers may have award-winning smiles now, we know that they – or rather, their dentists – had a lot of work to do to make it happen! Luckily, fixing your smile has never been easier or safer these days, as there are lots of options for all types of issues and all types of budgets.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry can mean a lot of things, including whitening, bonding, veneers, crowns (caps), gum grafts, teeth removal, dental implants, the list goes on. Anything is possible, and we want to focus on the celebrities who have had dental implants and veneers to showcase just how much of a difference these two procedures in particular can make!

What’s The Difference Between Dental Implants And Veneers?

First thing’s first – there is a difference between dental implants and veneers, which we’re going to talk about in a little more detail below. Your cosmetic dentist will most likely be the one who decides whether dental implants or veneers will be best for you, as it depends on what your priority is, and what you are trying to fix. Dental implants, in a nutshell, are used to replace missing teeth, for example, while veneers are better for those who have all of their natural teeth, but want to improve their appearance by making them straighter, brighter, whiter, more even, etc.

What Is A Dental Implant?

A dental implant looks and feels like a natural tooth, so if done well, will be undetected when compared with the rest of your teeth. While dental implants are comfortable and durable, they may need to be tightened or even replaced over time, which is completely normal.

A dental implant can be used to replace a missing tooth, for example, which means that the rest of the teeth aren’t affected, so it’s a simple and low-cost solution. As well as fixing your smile and boosting your confidence, dental implants have non-aesthetic benefits too, as they can restore things like joint pain, bite problems, chewing, speech, and digestion.

What Are Veneers?

There are two main types of veneers: porcelain veneers and composite veneers. Porcelain veneers are thin shells or covers, if you will, that are custom made to fit directly over your teeth, following the removal of a thin layer of enamel from your natural teeth, usually done under a local anesthetic. They resemble natural teeth (although are noticeably brighter and whiter!) are more commonly for aesthetic purposes, and can totally transform your smile! They can be used to cover chips, stains and gaps on your teeth, resulting in a straight, even, and bright smile. Porcelain veneers are not indestructible though, as porcelain is a glass that can be shattered if too much pressure is applied, but if well looked after, can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years.

Composite veneers are a little different, as they are a minimally-invasive type of tooth covering made using composite resin, which sits on top of your natural teeth to reshape the teeth into a straighter and overall, more desirable appearance. Composite veneers are good for fixing smaller issues such as cracks or chips, as you do not need to cover the entire tooth with resin, while porcelain veneers are favored for a bigger transformation. Composite veneers, for what it’s worth, don’t tend to last as long as porcelain veneers, and have a typical life span of 5-7 years.

21 Celebrity Dental Implants And Veneers Before And After Pictures

Now that we know a little bit more about dental implants and veneers, let’s take a look at some A-listers who we believe have had some of the above cosmetic dentistry procedures.

1. Kylie Jenner

The Kylie Cosmetics founder's entire mouth area is lightyears away from what it used to be, as in addition to her controversial lip fillers, Kylie had bright white porcelain veneers fitted!

2. Cristiano Ronaldo

The Manchester United soccer star previously had a missing lateral incisor and a gummy smile, among other minor problems, which were reportedly first corrected with ceramic braces, before he had a tooth implant placed in the jawbone and veneers, leading to his now instantly recognizable smile.

3. Megan Fox

The Jennifer's Body star has had a *lot* of cosmetic work since she first burst onto the scene, and that includes her smile! Machine Gun Kelly's fiancé reportedly had porcelain veneers to give her that highly-sought-after perfectly symmetrical Hollywood smile.

4. Celine Dion

The Canadian singer used to have pointed incisors and a generally gummy and uneven smile, but since hitting the big time, has the perfect smile thanks to gum recontouring and either porcelain crowns or veneers.

5. Demi Lovato

The "Skyscraper" singer sensationally revealed that Disney encouraged her to fix the gap in her teeth, revealing to Allure in 2016: "I signed with Disney Channel when I got Camp Rock, and I had a gap between my two front teeth. They were like, 'Would you be willing to fix it?' I wish today that I hadn't, because my gap was really cute." Gap or no gap, we still think Demi looks cute!

6. Ed Helms

We all remember the Hangover scene where Stu, played by Helms, woke up in Las Vegas to find one of his teeth missing. Although CGI and post-production can do wonderful things these days, this iconic scene was made possible because the actor actually had a dental implant – having lost one of his front teeth in the past – and he simply removed the crown for the comical and now legendary scene. A dentist then reportedly safely and easily put it back on once the scene was wrapped!

7. Victoria Beckham

The fashion designer formerly known as Posh Spice (who are we kidding, she will *always* be Posh Spice to us) had a very different smile before she shot to fame with the Spice Girls in the nineties, with uneven spacing and wide gapping. She reportedly had her teeth straightened and bonded, ready to catch the eye of a certain Mr David Beckham a few years down the line!

8. Zac Efron

The Baywatch actor had uneven teeth with a gap in the middle before he shot to fame as Troy Bolton in High School Musical, but is now the proud owner of a super-white and super-straight smile, most likely achieved by Zirconia veneers.

9. Tom Cruise

Perhaps one of the most famous dental before and afters belongs to the Mission: Impossible actor, who has reportedly had everything from whitening and realigning/straightening to a mouthful of veneers.

10. Miley Cyrus

Although braces could have made a world of difference to the "Midnight Sky" singer's teeth, it would have taken a long time for her to see results, which is something Hollywood starlets don’t have! This is why the Hannah Montana star chose to have a combination of porcelain crowns and veneers, which gave her a winning smile almost instantly!

11. Morgan Freeman

The Shawshank Redemption actor reportedly had diastema, i.e., natural gapping between the teeth, which was corrected with veneers that were used to close the gap. He has also had his teeth whitened, now resulting in an award-winning smile!

12. Katie Holmes

The Dawson's Creek actress's original smile was worlds away from the enchanting smile we are used to seeing now, which proves how powerful the right dental treatments can be! It's thought that she had a mixture of porcelain crowns and veneers, and the rest, as they say, is history!

13. Millie Bobby Brown

The Stranger Things star could have had more subtle procedures such as teeth whitening and Invisalign straightening, although some experts think that it's possible that she *also* had two porcelain veneers or composite bonding to improve the appearance of her two lateral teeth. She looks gorgeous, regardless!

14. Hilary Duff

The Lizzie McGuire star got some natural porcelain veneers after chipping one of her front teeth on a microphone. But as far as before pictures go, the Younger actress's are some of the best, which many people (including us!) would be elated with!

15. George Clooney

The one-time eternal bachelor's good looks no doubt extend to his smile, which experts say could be down to porcelain veneers or dental crowns. His natural smile, however, is one of the best ones we have seen, so we don’t think he would have been any less successful with ladies or in the industry without the mouth makeover!

16. Lindsay Lohan

The Mean Girls star once had stained and uneven teeth, only to be transformed to bright, white, and straight teeth, most likely achieved by teeth whitening and either dental ceramic crowns or dental veneers. Whatever she had, it's totally transformed her smile!

17. Howie Mandel

The America's Got Talent judge was missing two teeth, once upon a time, but now he has a full and natural-looking smile thanks to dental implants. "Nothing is any different from natural teeth, except they are better than my natural teeth were," he previously said.

18. Catherine Zeta-Jones

The Oscar-winning actress was reportedly bullied as a child for having crooked teeth (we want to know what those bullies are up to now!) but then got braces when she was a teenager to give her a very suitable smile. She enhanced it even further when she opted to have veneers, therefore resulting in a brighter and more symmetrical smile. Take that, bullies!

19. Jennifer Garner

The 13 Going on 30 actress's smile is reportedly down to a combination of porcelain veneers and gum contouring surgery, which corrected her slightly gummy smile and left her with some very covetable pearly whites.

20. Kirsten Dunst

A great before and after, as the Marie Antoinette actress's new smile – most likely achieved by porcelain veneers – is worlds away from her original, while still managing to look natural!

21. Jim Carrey

The Bruce Almighty actor had bonding in his front tooth after chipping it as a child, but regularly removes it for work and comedic purposes. For example, Carrey removed it when filming Dumb and Dumber to reportedly make his character, Lloyd Christmas, look more "deranged." You learn something new every day!

And so many more…

We bet that there are hundreds of other A-listers who have had dental implants and veneers to transform their smiles! Who else should we add to this list?
