All the 2024 Movies We Can’t Wait to See

There may be no Barbenheimer to save the box office next year, but there are still plenty of 2024 movies we can't wait to see with a big bucket of popcorn in our lap and a Hinge date by our side. Strikes be darned, the studios still have stuff! (Okay, and there's some streaming stuff we're looking forward to.)

This list of upcoming 2024 movies is both marvelous and (mostly) Marvel-less, because TBH, we're all Avenger'd out.

January

Mean Girls (The Musical) (The Movie)

Cersei Lannister has nothing on Regina George, Queen Bee of the most famous girl clique since the Heathers. After a run on Broadway, the Plastics return to the big screen for more girl-fight mayhem, this time set to music. In theaters January 12.

February

Argylle

Mystery surrounds this, well, mystery. No one seems to know much (or anything) about Elly Conway, the author whose debut spy novel, Argylle, doesn't even come out until January. And a month later, the adaptation hits the big screen—that's how fast Hollywood moved on this. Hence the rumor that it's a Taylor Swift joint. In theaters February 2.

Lisa Frankenstein

Diablo Cody wrote this wickedly goofy comedy adaptation of the world's first sci-fi novel, this time about a teenage girl who goes about making herself the perfect boyfriend…from spare parts. Directed by Zelda Williams, daughter of Robin. In theaters February 9.

It Ends With Us

Production shut down due to the SAG strike, but last we checked, this adaptation of Colleen Hoover's most famous novel was still set for an early-2024 release, with Blake Lively in the starring role of Lily Bloom and Jane the Virgin hunk Justin Baldoni stepping behind the camera to direct. In theaters February 9.

Madame Web

Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney dip their toes into the MCU via the Sony-owned Spider-Man franchise, this time focusing on a character who can…see the future? Which is a spider thing? Sure. In theaters February 14.

March

Dune: Part 2

Zendaya was in maybe seven seconds of the first Dune movie, though she was thankfully invited to all the red-carpet premieres, where she slayed. According to people who've read the book, she should be in the second part more. Plus, Florence Pugh! In theaters March 1.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

The Ghostbusters save the city from something supernatural, obviously. In theaters March 29.

April

Challengers

The more Zendaya the better. This tennis love triangle flick from the director of Call Me by Your Name was supposed to come out in September 2023, but strikes necessitated a delay. Zendaya plays Tashi, Mike Faist (West Side Story) plays Art, and Josh O’Connor (The Crown) plays Patrick, who meet as teens on the tennis circuit in the 2010s, then face off as adults. In theaters April 26.

May

The Fall Guy

An adaptation of the ’80s show of the same name, this action flick follows Ryan Gosling as a retired stuntman pulled back into the game when his director ex, played by Emily Blunt, asks him to find the missing star of her movie. In theaters May 3.

June

Ballerina

This John Wick spin-off about ballerina-assassins draws an all-star cast including Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, and Ana de Armas. In theaters June 7.

Inside Out 2

As Riley heads off to college, she feels a number of new emotions, including Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke. Sadly, much of the original cast isn't in this Pixar sequel, but at least Amy Poehler returns as the voice of Joy! In theaters June 14.

September

Drive-Away Dolls

Bestie road trip gone haywire starring Geraldine Viswanathan and Margaret Qualley, with Beanie Feldstein, Pedro Pascal, and Matt Damon! In theaters September 22.

October

Joker: Folie a Deux

Part deux of the Joker story that netted Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar is a musical (!) costarring Lady Gaga (!!) as Harley Quinn (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). In theaters October 4.

November

Wicked Part One

The Wizard of Oz prequel that took Broadway by storm hits the big screen after a long delay. Starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as the Witches of the South and West, respectively, you may have heard about some on-set drama that only makes us want to see this even more. We're a little wary of director Jon M. Chu's decision to split the narrative in half, but willing to see what he's cooking up! In theaters November 27.

Damsel

Millie Bobby Brown, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright star in this fairy-tale-gone-wrong adventure about a young woman using her wits and bravery to escape the clutches of a fire-breathing dragon. Hits Netflix next year!

Goodrich

Home Again writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer returns with another feel-good family flick, this time about an older dad (Michael Keaton) asking his daughter from his first marriage (Mila Kunis) to help him raise the young twins he had with his second wife, who left him.

Furiosa

This prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road is the origin story of Imperator Furiosa, originally played by Charlize Theron and now played by Anya Taylor-Joy.

Beetlejuice 2

This long, long-awaited sequel to the 1988 Tim Burton film reunites Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton, with Wednesday star Jenna Ortega coming on board to play Lydia's daughter.
