The 2023 Peach Truck Tour is making stops in Louisville. Here's where to find it

Ready to sink your teeth into Georgia peaches so fresh you'll need two napkins, at the very least, to keep all the juicy goodness from dripping off your chin? The Nashville-based Peach Truck is back on the road and headed to Louisville and Southern Indiana.

Haven't heard of The Peach Truck? It's a traveling food truck that delivers farm-fresh peaches from Georgia directly to the consumer. Stephen Rose, who grew up in Georgia eating aromatic peaches straight off the tree, started this fruit delivery service with his wife Jessica in 2012 because he says he was "tired of the tasteless grocery store peach options" in his new home in Tennessee.

So how do you find the Peach Truck?

Regular customers know to check the website for dates, times and pop-up locations throughout the area. The truck makes multiple stops each time it travels through the city. And while it's always a good idea to use the website to place pre-orders, they are not required. The Roses work to bring an ample supply to accommodate the needs of walk-up customers, supplies are sometimes limited.

Here's what to know about The Peach Truck's tour of the Louisville area.

How do I take care of my peaches?

The Peach Truck, a Nashville-based company launched in 2012 by Jessica and Stephen Rose, sources fresh peaches from farms in both Georgia and South Carolina.

After you bring home your peaches, it's important to let them condition at room temperature, spread out on your counter, or in a brown paper bag.

"You know they are conditioned if they give a little when lightly squeezed," Rose said. "At that point, you can store them in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks. Refrigeration stops the conditioning process, so the cold temperature will maintain the degree of softness and juiciness your peaches have when you put them in."

Fresh, sliced peaches store well in the freezer, too.

What if I can't eat that many peaches before they go bad?

The Peach Truck website and social media are filled with delicious recipes and suggestions for preserving your fresh peaches. Many customers split their Peach Truck purchases with family or friends.
