The 2021 Oscars Might Be Postponed
The 2021 Oscars could be postponed, Variety reports. Sources at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences spoke anonymously to the outlet telling them bluntly, "It’s likely they’ll be postponed."
In April, the Academy temporarily changed a long standing rule that says films need a seven-day theatrical run to be considered. At the time of that announcement, CEO Dawn Hudson said in a statement. “Our commitment to that is unchanged and unwavering. Nonetheless, the historically tragic COVID-19 pandemic necessitates this temporary exception to our awards eligibility rules. The Academy supports our members and colleagues during this time of uncertainty. We recognize the importance of their work being seen and also celebrated, especially now, when audiences appreciate movies more than ever.”

Typically the Oscars are the last (and some think most prestigious) stop on the awards circuit. While the other ceremonies like the Golden Globes and the Emmys have not said how they will handle the upcoming events, it's likely we will see some major changes.
