2020 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards to Be Held Remotely

Nickelodeon's Kids’ Choice Awards will officially become the first awards show to take place remotely during the coronavirus pandemic.

Billboard reports that the annual event will be held on May 2, with a slightly different theme, which is reflected in the award ceremony’s title: Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2020: Celebrate Together.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this year’s show will be hosted by Victoria Justice, and Nickelodeon is reportedly set to present a $1 million donation to No Kid Hungry, an organization that has been working to help feed children amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

While this year’s award show might not have the quintessential orange carpet we’ve grown accustomed to seeing at previous KCAs, Nickelodeon promises there will still be plenty of slime (whew). And that’s not all — there’s a solid star-studded lineup attached to the festivities. Billboard reports that Ariana Grande, BTS, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Millie Bobby Brown, Lil Nas X, and Dove Cameron are all expected to make appearances, and LeBron James is reportedly set to receive this year’s Generation Change Award for his work on the I Promise school.

The Kids’ Choice Awards were originally scheduled to take place on March 22 in Los Angeles, but had previously been postponed surrounding growing concerns about the coronavirus outbreak. “The Kids’ Choice Awards scheduled for March 22, 2020, in Los Angeles is being postponed in consideration of the safety and well-being of every person involved with the show, which is our top priority,” Nickelodeon said in a statement at the time, per Deadline. “We will have further information about a new date in the future.”

We’ll definitely be marking our calendars for May 2 — and Googling recipes for homemade DIY slime in the meantime.
