Ikea releases its iconic meatball and cream sauce recipe — and it's only five steps

When you think of Ikea, you probably think of three things: Affordable furniture with Swedish names, mazes (literally, every store’s layout is a maze to trick you into buying things) and meatballs.

But since quarantine has shut down all nonessential stores, the giant furniture-maker decided to bestow a delicious gift on the general public: The recipe for its famous meatballs.

Now you can experience Ikea from the comfort of your home — evoking memories of the time you got into a fight with your significant other in the kitchen supplies section of the store and the other time you got into a fight with your significant other over building a dresser.

“We know that some people might be missing our meatballs, which is why we’ve released an at-home alternative which, using easily accessible ingredients, will help those looking for some inspiration in the kitchen,” Lorena Lourido, the country food manager for Ikea UK and Ireland, said in a press release.

“Staying at home can be hard, but we want to help make everyone’s lives that little bit easier and more enjoyable. Bon appétit or, smaklig måltid, as we say in Sweden!”
