The fear of missing out is a common one, especially for those whose loved ones live hundreds and even thousands of miles away. While our phones, computers, tablets and other types of communicative tech allow us the luxury of keeping in touch with the ones we love, this practice can sometimes get a bit repetitive and eventually lose that special luster.
To reintroduce that feeling of excitement and even add an extra layer of practicality and organization to your own life, the folks at Knectek Labs created a device called Memobird.
Shop: Memobird Mobile Printer, $69.95
Memobird allows users to print from any device — including phones, tablets, laptops and desktops — with or without an internet connection.
For added convenience and financial consciousness, the device does not use ink to print. Translation: no expensive ink cartridge refills necessary! This is all thanks to the thermal paper and technology used during the printing process. Once the roll is done, simply replace it with another and you’re ready to print again.
According to its product description, Memobird lets users print everything from typed and handwritten text to photos, stickers and even secret messages. Through the brand’s app, the chosen creation can be printed onto tons of different types of paper — even the sticky kind. You know what that means, right? You can go crazy with homemade sticky notes!
For personal use, the gadget can simplify your life by printing to-do lists for your work station, grocery lists ahead of your errand run or flash cards for your study session.
Another neat feature that makes this device unlike any other is its ability to send personalized paper notes “in seconds to any place in the world.” All that’s required for this exchange is for both the sender and receiver to own their own Memobird.
Proving its “easy as pie” usability, Memobird doesn’t require any buttons to be pressed and doesn’t need ink or a Wi-Fi connection to work.
“After you finish the set-up, just wait and see the message printing,” the description explains, before attesting that it’s “a perfect messenger for seniors.”
Shoppers love this one-of-a-kind little gadget, with one five-star reviewer admitting, “I’ve been writing notes for everything since it’s shown up.” She also added that she’s used the sticker paper “as mailing address labels for all my holiday cards.”
So, what’s the best thing about this device? A few shoppers have credited that honor to its “no ink refills” feature.
A couple of critiques reviewers had for the device are the lack of variety in patterns and frames when designing messages and the apparent inability to change the font size of messages in the app.
Despite these minor gripes, though, one shopper still dubbed the device “the best compact printer for your everyday needs,” while another stressed that it’s a great way to have “something tangible that I can see and feel” in comparison to electronic phone reminders.
When compared to other printing devices like this popular option from Canon or this trendy photo printer by KiiPix, the Memobird still stands out thanks to its customizable functions, inkless technology and message-sending capabilities.
Memobird is currently available in two colors: green and pink. Three-roll packs of replacement paper can also be purchased for $9.95.
