Fast-fashion brand worn by Kylie Jenner, Cardi B in hot water for promotional texts

Fashion Nova is no stranger to inciting mixed reactions when it comes to its marketing ploys, but this one might be the final straw for some shoppers.

The fast-fashion retailer’s latest strategy was to suggest that customers should spend their stimulus checks on the shop’s ongoing sale.

Millions of Americans have received stimulus checks as part of the package passed by Congress in an effort to alleviate some of the financial burden caused by the current pandemic and spike in unemployment rates.

Fashion Nova, obviously inspired by the news, went about it in a rather insensitive way — particularly since the majority of people need their stimulus checks to pay rent, buy food and spend it on other necessities.

People were understandably furious with the misguided promotion.

On the other hand, others seemed somewhat impressed with the brand’s ruthlessness.

This is not Fashion Nova’s first scandal. In late 2019, reports revealed that the company had horrible working conditions and employees in rat-infested factories were paid based on how fast they could sew — some received as little $4.66 an hour.
