Aerie is giving $20,000 to 20 'real-life changemakers': Here's how you could win

Few things in life are totally free — and even fewer of those things are worth $20,000.

But that's the offer American Eagle's body-positive brand, Aerie, is offering 20 "changemakers" throughout the U.S. The campaign, called the #AerieREAL Change Initiative, is giving away $20,000 to anyone who can show they're trying to make a difference in their community.

So what does that mean, exactly? According to the initiative's submission page, Aerie is looking for people who are trying to affect bullying, body positivity, education, wellness, homelessness, leadership, environmentalism or women's leadership in their towns, schools or workplaces.

The 20 winners — which will be announced this fall — will get the money specifically to "support their platforms of change," in addition to the chance to appear alongside the brand's #AerieREAL Role Models, a group that includes actress Beanie Feldstein, YouTuber Molly Burke and snowboarder Brenna Huckaby.

Submissions are open through Feb. 23, and anyone over the age of 15 can apply. Applicants are encouraged to submit a two-minute video explaining their project, and what they'd do with the $20,000.

Check out the brand's submission page to enter, plus the list of application rules.
