Let the sun shine in! This June 21 (11:54am EDT) marks the summer solstice, and the longest, strongest day of light. It’s a time of illumination, and not just in a “wow, it’s still this bright out at 9:30pm?!” kind of way. The Sun’s most potent 24 hours hold up a magnifying mirror for no-holds-barred self-reflection. Take inventory. Is something getting in the way of you living your best life? Oh… Well, that’s a no-go, as far as the vitality-boosting Sun is concerned. The Great Ball of Fire in the Sky wants us pampered, romanced, self-expressed, and free to be our most creative selves!

So let’s get to it. On June 21, you have a chance to see it all so clearly. Have you been true to yourself…or has the desire for outside validation taken you “off brand?” Are you allowing your authentic personality to shine…or have you wandered too far into the echo chamber of groupthink? Are you making healthy choices in love or falling for the bad news baes over and over again?

Whatever the case, you may realize it’s time for a little course correction. And if so, consider June 21 will push you off the starting block. But get ready to plunge into some deeper waters. The very same day as the solstice, esoteric Neptune, the planet of illusions and sacrifice, pivots into its annual five-month retrograde. Essentially, this planetary backspin turns off the “fantasy filter” that has us all laboring in delusion. It’s not easy to look there, but it’s necessary if you want to make the kind of shifts this year’s solstice is calling for. Here’s what every zodiac sign can take from illumination to transformation this June 21!

Aries: From cluttered to clarity

Survey your spaces, Aries! Do they feel like home to you? You’ve changed in epic ways over the past eight years, while radical Uranus toured your sign. But as of this March 6, the side-spinning planet has moved on to Taurus and you’re free from the chaotic influence of that cycle. Now, you’re craving stability—not in a boring way, of course. You just want clarity about “what’s next.” To get there, a clean-up mission is in order. From messy offices to jumbled inboxes, to storage spaces full of strappy sandals you’ll never wear again, don the metaphoric rubber gloves and clear things out. If you’ve been mulling over a move, tidying up will give you clarity about whether to stay or go.

Taurus: From casual to connected

So many people, so little time. Neighborly Bulls never mind a little friendly small talk. But are your conversations starting to sound a little too same-same? Sure, the summer weather’s lovely, the July Fourth barbecue is gonna be lit, yadda yadda. But maybe you could upgrade some of the random chit-chat to something a little more…meaningful? Challenge yourself to share more vulnerably about yourself; ask different questions, find out what’s actually going on in people’s lives. Your pool lounger doesn’t have turn into a pop-up therapy booth; however, connecting over real talk could unearth bona fide BFFs and a friend group that fits like an aqua sock.

Gemini: From strapped to secure

You’re the busiest bee in the hive this time of year, especially since the summer solstice comes right on the heels of Gemini season. After a month of circulating, it’s time to start monetizing. Are you giving your time and energy to opportunities that can put cash in the bank? If not, will they help you build a network that can one day be leveraged for your career? It’s not that you should form user-friendly relationships. But hey, you’ve gotta keep the wifi on and the sushi bowls on the table. If it’s time to request a raise or start charging for a service, the solstice gives you courage to move in that direction.

Cancer: From sacrificing to supported

You don’t need anyone; you’ve got it all handled. But everyone needs you, Cancer. What’s wrong with this picture? The summer solstice always marks day one of Cancer season—a month-long cycle that snaps you out of the role of the sacrificial martyr and puts your needs front and center. But here’s the deal: You’re such a capable soul that people need you to spell out your requests for them. Figuring out what you need to support with might be the hardest part since your sign isn’t comfortable asking. Warm yourself up slowly, like asking a friend to pick up wine when you’ve made dinner or requesting a ride to the airport. By the time the solar eclipse in Cancer rolls around with the July 2 new moon, you could already have some proficiency with this newfound skill.

Leo: From frenzied to focused

Project mania alert! Summer’s your time for getting involved, Leo, whether you’re planning the neighborhood block party or a glamorous charity fundraiser fete under the stars. But have you fallen prey to the “knee-jerk yes” syndrome? You want to do it all, be there for everyone, help as much as you can. But your big-hearted FOMO is going to send you straight into meltdown territory. Here’s

your solstice challenge: Pick one project (Just. One. Project.) and give it your full focus. You’ll do it better than you ever could if you were scattered in six directions. With Mercury turning retrograde from July 7 to 31 (and retreating through Leo until July 19), you’ll appreciate the breathing room in your schedule.

Virgo: From cautious to close-knit

Are you holding people at arm’s length? Spending more time with your #instafriends than real people? We can’t totally say we blame you, Virgo. It’s seems a lot “safer” that way. But those virtual connections could start to get old by the solstice. You could find yourself craving a warm body in close proximity. Not just any old body, of course, because meaningful conversation is your favorite kind of foreplay. Still, Virgo, take that chatter offline and into real time. This goes for friends and romantic interests. Transition into analog dialogues and go have some playdates!

Libra: From exhausted to effective

Working hard doesn’t always equate with producing results, Libra, and that should be music to your leisurely sign’s ears. But if you’ve been breaking a sweat but spinning your wheels, you’re probably too exhausted to get creative. It’s time to rethink your strategy. What’s the number one time-zapper on your calendar—and can you outsource some of that work? If you’re stalled around developing a new path, enlist a coach or organize a few success-bound friends for a summertime mastermind group to support each other with your career goals. Note: these meetings can, and should, be held over poolside happy hour cocktails.

Scorpio: From intensity to levity

Ponder this, Scorpio: What if everything didn’t have to be soooo serious? You get super invested in all that you do, which is one of your winning qualities. But the intensity that you bring to these missions with can be extra-extra…for you and everyone in your radius. Your solstice transformation is a fun one: Bring some play into the equation! Could you turn those tasks into a game? Find some dark humor in the situation? If you’re not enjoying yourself for at least a few hours every day, you’re doing something wrong. It’s your birthright to be happy—and you can find those moments of joy even while you’re dealing with tough stuff, like railing against abortion bans and searching for answers to climate change. P.S. Cutting a few negative people out of your life might be necessary to finding that nirvana.

Sagittarius: From jealous to genuine

With planets percolating in your eighth house for the past month, you’ve been getting nipped by the green-eyed monster. That compare-and-despair syndrome is real, Sagittarius, but it can take you down. You can’t be the best at everything, and you know what? That’s okay. The solstice helps you pick a lane…your lane. Once you stop merging wildly, you’ll feel like you’re on your path. That’s when the pace will pick up, and results will come in at an accelerated rate. Bless your “competitors” even the ones you consider nemeses. Then, focus on bringing your authentic gifts to the foreground. No one will ever do it exactly like you, Archer. Originality is your sign’s calling card.

Capricorn: From competitive to cooperative

Eyes off that scoreboard, Capricorn! Your ambitious sign can’t help but angle for the number one spot, even if you’re only competing with yourself. But when your one-track mind gets ahold of the goal, you can lose sight of all the helpful people in your midst. The solstice directs your attention away from those numbers (on the spreadsheet, scale, score-ranking, whatever!) and shifts you into networking mode. We truly are stronger together, Capricorn, and if you stay open, a powerful partnership could be set in stone by early August.

Aquarius: From routines to rituals

Does it feel like you’ve been going through the motions, Aquarius? Sometimes, your cool-headed sign needs to detach. But you may have pulled so far back from a particular part of your life that it feels like you’re stuck on the treadmill. How can you spice up these routines? Turn them into rituals. Add some magic, sensuality and creativity. Sick of spin class? Try stand-up paddle boarding. Add raw cacao and fresh, young coconut to your healthy smoothies? Do some of those drudgery-inducing tasks, like paying online bills or returning work emails, in a beautiful location, like a rooftop café with wifi. Challenge yourself to ask your most familiar people one new question a day—and don’t you dare assume that you already know that answer!

Pisces: From drifting to determined

Yes, you’re a dreamer, Pisces, but you are also a do-er. With all the ideas you’ve been collecting—from books, travels, inspiring conversations and feeds—you’re ready to make some moves. The

solstice wakes up the trailblazing action star in you. Start that invisible jet and grab your magic lasso. It’s time to unleash your creative genius on the world. Fling yourself out of the comfort zone, and be prepared to weather a little criticism from people who don’t fully get it…yet. You can work behind the scenes while Mercury’s in retrograde from July 7 to 31, then make your big reveal after your co-ruler, larger-than-life Jupiter, turns direct on August 11!
