2018 VMAs: Let's Take a Moment to Appreciate the Power of Jennifer Lopez in Versace

In a night of a million metallic gowns, Jennifer Lopez's was, of course, the one that shone like a diamond at the 2018 VMAs. This year's Video Vanguard Award recipient arrived to the red carpet wearing a designer that has been responsible for some of her most iconic fashion moments from over the years: Versace.

It makes sense that Lopez would chose a metallic, one-shoulder Versace gown for the occasion. She's getting the most highly-anticipated award of the evening, in honor of her decades-long career and contributions to pop music. Throughout the years, she's worn Versace for many high-profile events—from the Grammys (ahem, that green dress) to the Met Gala. Plus, her award is quite shiny, so it's only fitting that her outfit match.

Behold, a look.

J.Lo's red-carpet gown was so good even Alex Rodriguez had to stop on the red carpet and get a photo of it. Your Instagram boyfriend could never.

She wasn't the only woman wearing metallics on the red carpet tonight—Dascha Polanco, Rita Ora, Winnie Harlow, and more all rocked the trend as well. But Lopez's definitely stood out, in all its regal, gilded glory. That's the power of Versace.

J.Lo pulled off a costume change mid-show, but managed to keep the metallic theme going for her performance: She wore gold sequined jumpsuit, while her dancers glittered in gold with white accents. (Hey, you've got to keep the eyes on J.Lo.)
